Unlocking N95 and Flashing
Methuselah Now
02-08-2008
Hi,

Is it possible to unlock an N95 by flashing it to a generic Product Code.

That's the impression I was under.

I did this, changing the product ID to a general european one, lost all Orange branding and software-locks, but my phone still won't accept 3g sim-cards for any other operator!

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yours kindly,

MN

No, flashing and unlocking are 2 different things.

Get one of these to unlock your phone. I have one and it works a treat.

For the price of that you might aswell get it done officially by ringing up the company the phone is locked to, Orange charge £20, i think vodafone is free, and im not sure about the other networks

As has already been mentioned, debranding and unlocking are two completely seperate things.

The easiest way to unlock would be to obtain the unlock code from your network operator, this will instantly remove any restrictions when the code is entered.

A bit pontless because if you get another phone you want unlocking you have to pay for that too.

With the turbo chip it can be transferred to other phones.

wow thats a bit expensive! These ''turbo sims'' are also known as x-key or no key sims, and the prices start from as little as £5 on ebay
