HELP is my knackered headphone socket covered ???

my friend has just brought an ipod touch from ebay after i did. mine was fine and i had no problems, and i have just purchased applecare to extend its warranty. her one however is different, the seller appeares to be genuine, he has 401 feedback 100% and we just started using the ipod and then headphone socket isnt wuite right, the sound is distorted sometimes, other times it bubbles and also you have to wiggle the plug around to get it to play right. this seems to me like a faulty socket and i shall be messaging the seller later on. if however he doesnt sort out my problem, is it covered under the years warranty you get with it (only i dont have the receipt, the seller says it around 4 months old)

any help appreciated

many thanks
sam

I bought an iPod Touch on eBay and the main connector was dodgy from the start. After a couple of months I decided I'd had enough and made an appointment to get it fixed at the Apple store in Southampton. The guy looked up the serial number and asked if I had bought it in the USA. I said no, eBay. He just shugged and replaced it without a problem.

I had the same problem with the Touch last week, I called Apple and they advised that it was NOT covered and headphone socket issues are 98% caused by 'accidental damage' !!!!, she reckoned the cost would be about £180 to get it fixed! Luckily I jiggled it around for ages and it now seems OK again. This is on a brand new device, reckon there is a product fault somewhere if others have the same issue.
