can i dodge the £125 install fee?

Im just wondering if anyone new any tricks to dodge paying the £125 install fee bt charge. the reason im asking is because bt say theres no line in my house but i have a bt socket on the wall also i am a virginmedia customer aswell would they do any deals to take me away from them. ?

any help is appreciated.

The last time I got connected with BT I was advised that it could be £125. However I was then told that if BT was previously in the house then it would be nothing, as the £125 is for proper connection to a house that didn't have BT previously.

i have actually called bt and they have told me thats there no line despite there being a box.

so in other words computer says no. or something along those lines

I was told the same, their was no line into the flat, yet there was BT wiring and a box, engineer came out to obviously fit said wiring and box, got here said my god we are useless, rang BT up explained Box here and wiring all ok, so they switched it on there end to errmmm find of course there was a line here..........No charge.

I think you can get the installation for £30 if you sign up to BT for 18 months. Worth looking into. I think most providers charge around the same for line rental anyway.

Would only benefit in moving provider if you were to benefit from a bundle that included broadband, maybe even TV.
