I'd be grateful for any advice on this. My Panasonic DVD recorder doesn't record when set to record a programme. And when I'm not setting it to record, but just press 'record' it continuously goes through 'self check' then goes blank, then the time comes back on.

It was quite expensive and about three years old. It would probably cost a lot for someone to come out and repair it. What I was wondering was, would you buy a new one or have it repaired? Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it.

In the mean time i'll guess an E55 or E85, if either there are several long posts on the Avforums with repair details.
