A dumb question about my new phone (yes, I've checked the manuel)
Today I got a new phone contract and with it a new phone, the Nokia 6220 classic. It's alright but I really want to know how to make smileys appear in texts
My bf's phone, which is also a Nokia, shows an actual face if you type in : ) or something, and my old phone (a Sony Ericsson) did as well. I won't cry myself to sleep over it but if anyone knows if it has that feature, it'd be good to know. It's just mildly irritating more than anything else.

I have a Nokia, not the same model as yours but when I'm sending a text, there is an options bit (bottom left) If I scroll down, it will give me the insert smilie option.
I really don't know how models differ though. |

Might have more luck asking this question in the Mobile Phone part of the forum rather than in the Advice part.

I think that as long as you put the smiley in to the text (so it appears as symbols) the phone receiving it should use its own corresponding smiley.

Makes it look so rubbish with just the symbols. God I'm pedantic. Anyway I have resigned myself to the fact and am even thinking it's almost cool in retro sort of way, but really that's me consoling myself that I chose a bit of a crap phone. (Then again, I hated my last one and now I love it and don't want to part with it. I wouldn't, if it wasn't slowly dying.)

All the features the Nokia 6200 Classic DOES have and you're worried that smileys are text only?

If the little things are what your appreciate i suggest you get a Sony Ericsson for your net phone, they have all the little things right and just not appreciated by many.
For the moment your phone will not display emoticons and just the symbols, you can get the phone to predictive select the emoticons and you just scroll through them but you need predictive text on and just press 1 two or three times dependant on what you want thats the best it can do. You could always buy software that will make them display them properly on your phone. http://www.softwaremarket.nokia.com/ |

On the 6300 you press the "+" key (when composing a text) to get the symbols list (&%$ etc.) and then press it again to get the smileys list.
