Brown Bread: Good or less bad?
Methuselah Now

Hi,

Does anyone know if brown/whole-meal bread is simply less bad for your health than eating white bread, or is it actually good for you and directly benefits your health?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Neither. Bread with grains and seeds is better.

Homemade is even better as it does not use bleached or chemically treated flour.

brown is sometimes the same as white just coloured.

Wholemeal is healthier because it uses the whole of the grain so there's more fibre and vitamins, it's also less processed to takes a bit longer to digest (i.e. better for blood sugar levels).

The differences aren't that huge though and when you start adding fillings the slower absorption will go out the window.

No bread is good, wheat is alien to our digestive system and causes untold problems. Avoid it.

Yes, I agree. I do avoid it.
I found eating wheat made me so tired and had other side effects.

Both plain brown and white bread give me hideous indigestion....

I'm okay with wholegrain bread with lots of nuts and seeds though
