Stork margarine

Anyone know if the way this is made has changed.

I have been trying to make my butties for tomorrow and the marge keeps falling off the knife.

I have noticed this for a bit now but tonight was the final straw and it is now in the bin. Think I will try some utterly butterly instead.

Anyone else noticed this.

Stork is only just good enough for baking with, certainly not for making sandwiches.
Proper butter all the way - its natural

I only found out recently that it wasn't actually made from storks!

I haven't eaten it, on principle, since!

IMO margerine is disgusting stuff. Try using nothing on the bread, or, if you really need grease on your sandwich, use butter.

Agreed. It might take a bit of getting used to at first but you'll never go back. So your butties aren't dry put plenty of salad and/or mayonnaise or chutney on.

I don't know if has changed, maybe they closed down the local garage because it's nothing short of axle grease. The days are gone when people chose between margarine and butter, there are so many healthier alternatives.

It is also really bad for your skin.

Lurpak Spreadable is the bees knees..........since I discovered it I've chucked in all the Flora and Olivio and all those things...............

I always think of Stork as very 1960s.........when it was trendy and healthy and shiny..........sheesh, how gullible were we ?

There used to be another big Marge brand called Blue something ?

Blue Band ?

It's funny how tastes change. How what was considered "it" becomes.... (I won't say but you can guess).

But it would be quite remarkable if the present day was immune from this effect.

The very idea of the sandwich might be considered freakish in twenty years.

The recent vogue for butter-like-spread-that-is-not-butter-but-tastes-sort-of-like-it will probably seem as disgusting as Stork does for some today.

Stork. It's such a weird word. Say it several times. Stork, Stork, Stork....Stork.

Freakish man.

You've got to say it clearly though because nine out of ten people can't tell talk from mutter...........

I've found this with all the butter substitutes recently, none of them spread, they kind of roll over the bread/toast without actually spreading.

I've gone back to butter, but hubby likes a sunflower spread from Aldi that we've tried. It doesn't roll off the knife, but when I tried it, it kind of spread like wallpaper paste and put me right off.

I have never used a butter substitute - horrible, horrible stuff.
Always refused my mother-in-law's sandwiches because she used the stuff.
Someone mentioned Lurpack butter - that's the one!

As for Stork, I only ever used it to make a sponge cake - in the days when I made them of course, way back when.

Margerine is disgusting stuff and should only be used for baking..... and even then only as a substitute if you have no butter.

My mother always used to buy margerine when i was a kid, and i would guess this is where my abhorrence of the stuff stems from.

Like another FM here, these days it's Lurpak Spreadable. Wonderful stuff!!

ROFL! I bought some of the said Lurpak spreadable, but it looks a bit pale. We usually have Vitalite cos it's lower fat.

Lurpak spreadable changed my life! Honest. It is so good- almost like real butter but none of that scraping and tearing the bread.

I used to have clover and looking back it was so greasy and artificial.

I still use proper salted butter on my potatos though!

Maybe it's changed due to the publicity surrounding hydrogenated oils, they are/were used to make a lot of liquid vegetable oils solid at room temp.

Butter all the way for me, you know where you are with butter and despite the negative image of it it contains lots of healthy fats.

I use butter - as I find margarine tastes horrible.

If you keep butter out of the fridge in a covered dish, it spreads fine.
