Mobiles2yourdoor and Orange confusion
Jon12345

I am very confused at the mobiles2yourdoor site, because no one there can tell me what I would be getting for my money!

I want to go for their Orange Panther £45 Mobile Internet - 18 months deal with £175 cashback, but they cannot tell me what my monthly data download would be. Orange recently changed some of their "unlimited monthly download" options so perhaps that might be it.

Can anyone here help?

Thanks,

Jon

My advice would be to steer clear. Why would you take a cashback offer when you know that so many have been stung over the recent months?

I don't think its a good idea to go with a company that can't tell you what the charges will be.

Ofcom are going to ban these deals for a reason.

What is the problem with the cashback? Seems quite straight forward to me. The problem is, when I speak to Orange they tell me that if I order through someone other than themselves, they cannot tell me if I can add anything to my contract. Is this true? Surely if they give me a phone and put me on the Orange contract, then they can tell me? Or is it just a sales ploy to go direct through Orange?

CASHBACK deals have proved to be financially untenable which is why MANY of these dealers have gone into liquidation over the past year leaving people like you out of pocket. Ofcom are going to ban this practice to protect the gullible.

I read that mobiles2yourdoor have been going for several years and are part of the phones4u group. Surely they have some stability?

Go for it Jon. Obviously Ofcom are wrong in wanting to ban the practice.

Well, I haven't seen a convincing argument for why I shouldn't go for it. You stated it is because the companies go bust but if its a company that is huge, like phones4u, with hundreds of high street stores...I can't see them going bust within the next 45 days, which is when I would be due my cashback.

Is there not some other reason why these cashback deals are considered dodgy?

Because the are dodgy, which is why they are going to be banned.

Jon12345, I'll give you a reason. The terms and conditions of the deal are set to limit the number of people who can get the cashbsck. There are plenty of threads on here from people who didn't get their cashback.

As an example, one well known phone retailer had a cashback deal that required you to send the 3rd months bill and then the 6th months bill. So people sent off the bill which arrived in the 3rd month only to be told that they should have sent the 3rd bill which arrives in the second month after signing up. Which invalidated their cashback claim. There are plenty more tales like this.

Ok. The auto cashback deal I read said you do nothing to get it. Wonder if anyone here has had dealings with mobiles2yourdoor regarding this.

What about my local Orange store who are offering £100 cash for trading in my old mobile (K750i)?

No they are not. They will take £100 off of the contract price.

Jon the usage allowance when choosing the Panther £45 package with mobile internet is 250MB with out of bundle charges of 94p/MB.

Thanks guys for your precautionary notes about the cash back thing. I went with my local Orange shop in the end on your advice. Got my Panther deal with 250MB per month.
