Setting up new Hummy 9200
dg2008

I have just got a refurbished 9200. Seems to be ok so far but I noticed that it is stating the transmitter is Rowridge which is south of us. We have line of sight to Midhurst which it is pointing at. Is this just being used as a relay and showing Rowridge, or is there a problem with the setup?

The signal strength is no better than 60% and the quality is 100%.

If I do have to change the transmitter I am not sure what it should be set up on.

Apprecitate some help.

In my area relay transmitters display the name of the main transmitter, however according to the DTG web-site Midhurst is not a relay of Rowridge. Check a couple of UHF channel numbers in the System > Signal Detection menu against those shown on the DTG site.

Rowridge channel numbers 23, 28, 30, 32, 26, 33.
Midhurst channel numbers 56, 65, 62, 59, 64, 60.

If you want to do a manual tune see my guide in post #7 here.

An indication that the humax has found two transmitters is the pressence of chanels numbered 800 and up.

This sometimes happens when the humax first finds the weaker signal and then puts the stronger duplicate chanels high up the list.

If this has happened you need to do the manual rescan described in the post above.

Thanks Both for your replies

Cannot get to it at the moment as my Wife is watching, but going off the Hauppauge card in my computer the channels do not match either. I get

55
58
61
68

Where do those come from or are analogue different?

They are analogue channels from Midhurst, see the lower half of the DTG page.

You might find this DTG page useful, it shows you which Freeview channels are on each multiplex (UHF channel). This will allow you to set the Hummy to a freeview channel from each multiplex so you can look at the UHF channel in the system menu.

Thanks for the help. As per your instructions I have got all the Muxes loaded.

I have noticed that the EPG is not very well populated. Does this take a while (24hrs) to load up?

Also coming out of standy is slow. Forget which version is loaded but it is date Dec 2007. Do these update automatically overnight or do I have to d/l from the web?

Thanks

EPG should load in 8 minutes from switch on but is said to depend on which channel you're on, BBC1 is favourite. Receiving from 2 transmitters is said to cause problems but if you've done the manual tune properly then you shouldn't have a problem.

Coming out of standby takes about 15 seconds. Check the System > Status menu, you should have Loader a 4.09 and software version PGXTF 1.00.21.

New or repeat software is transmitted from time to time but there's none on the cards for the 9200. If new software is on the horizon you'll read about it here and here. You'll see the current software is being repeated now.
