Spencer
When are they gonna axe this pointless character?
He's supposed to be 18 but is so jumpy and timid, he's more like an 8 year old girl and he's so wooden. Take tonight when he was getting tearful, I bet they had to peel half a dozen onions. Don't hug him Shane, you might get splinters!

Nobody of 18 years acts like that. |

I wholly agree. Pile of shite who NEEDS to go. It's not as if he hasn't had the chance to improve, either.
Are they REALLY going to keep him based on fanmail? How dire... Let's hope Nana Moon accidentally bumps him off during one of her little spells... |

I have known plenty of people of 18 that act like that. He lacks confidence, as do many teenagers.
His character annoys the crap out me, although I think it's actually refreshing to have a teenage boy that isn't full of himself and a cocky little sod. I think he should have been related to Gary though, not Alfie, as they both have that look on their face like they have both wet themselves.

With people like 'spenc' and 'alfie' the show is declining.

Alfies condom episode was the ONLY time ive ever seen Eastenders try and be funny, AND manage to pull it off, without making me cringe at the poor comedy acting abilities.

It's a fact that ugly - or less than stunning teenagers - have to rely on their acting ability to stay in soaps, like Sonia. Let's face it, if Spencer was ugly (though I personally don't think he's all thatgreat anyway, but you know..) and he DIDN'T receive lots of fanmail, there'd be no doubt in hell he'd be out the door...

Yes, I think Spencer's crying and woosy like attitude are cringe worthy. But, it's good that there isn't the same kind of teenager you normally get in a show.
Sonia, Spencer, Vicky and Martin are all very different, people think teenagers are all the same, but it's a load of bull. Spencer is a unique character, but he isn't very convincing with being a teenager that lacks confidence. I think the actor doesn't know how to make the character work. |
