Why are Walkers the only company to have Cheese And Onion in Blue Bags and Salt and Vinegar in Green Bags. I've only just noticed that. LOL. Every other company has Salt And Vinegar in Blue Bags and Green for Cheese and Onion.

Didn't they do that to spur sales?

It is annoying and confusing - but I've managed to get through life and compensate for Walkers crisp packaging short-comings.

But the issue did confuse me quite recently. I was sort of shopping whilst my mind was elsewhere and subconsciously picked up the wrong packs before my error dawned on me.

It's just pointlessly annoying.

Yes because if you are used to the more familiar colour code, you could end up buying the wrong flavour if you simply grab the bag without reading it.

It would then matter to the buyer who may not realise his/her error when they arrive home or somwhere else, where they may not be able to get back to the shop to exchange it due to family/work commitments.

It's just confusing, you know if they are in the wrong colour bag they are a waste of money so there is no point buying them

Of course.... it's crisps!

It's like Petrol and Diesel, the pumps are different colours - and it's the same at all garages. Why should someone go against the tide?

Who exactly is this "every other company"? All both of them, Tayto and UB?
So two companies use one colouring scheme and one (which is by far the biggest seller of branded crisps) uses another any they are the ones who are going against the trend?

I think we may be going back a bit, Golden Wonder (when they were big), Smith's ("we want to beeeee, Smith's crisps"), supermarket own, Seabrook. They all adhere to the colour rules that Walkers so flagrantly disregards.

I think Walkers changed them over in around 1991/1992. I could be wrong but it was around then.

It was when the bags still had the clear portion so you could see the crisps inside. None of this 'foil freshness' in those days!

When I where a lad Golden Wonder where the dominant brand of crisps. When walkers took over they seemed to change the colour of Salt n Vinegar and Cheese an Onion round just to rub it in Golden Wonders face. I still get it mixed up to this day.

It's such a shame to see the decline of Golden Wonder, especially as I preferred them to Walkers. I guess the majority must disagree with me otherwise Golden Wonder would still be sold everywhere!

The only Golden Wonder now sold in our local Sainsbury's are 'Golden Wonder Lights'.

It's gotta be earlier than that, I remember making the mistake of picking up a blue walkers bag expecting salt and vinegar and getting cheese and onion when I was pre school so that's atleast 1987.

Walker's have always had their crisps coloured this way, completely differently to all the other crisp companies at the time.

Walker's have never had salt & vinegar in blue and cheese in green bags.

Not sure how old you are, but maybe you are thinking of the times before Walker's became available and then before they slowly spread across the country and before they became as popular.

As a Midlander Walkers were the popular crisp, before they started selling them outside the Midlands so have always been used to the Walkers colours.

As long I have been alive they have always been the colour they are. Even in the 1970s they were this colour.

My parents said they have also always been this colour.

It all depends on how old you are and where you were born.

If you were a Midlander and born in the 50s, 60s, 70s + then Walkers were the dominant brand and you were so used to Salt & Vinegar being green and Cheese & Onion being green.

Yeah! LOL

As they were definitely the colour they are today even in the 1960s and 1970s.

I used to have crisps as a kid and have to remember that when I couldn't get my preferred Walkers that the others were the wrong colour - wasn't until I was a lot older I realised that it was Walkers who were being different.
