The book for my 5800 says I can adjust a the details of a timer setting apart from the first three lines of the menu. But I cant. Only the bottom two. Can any body help?

At a guess you are running a 5.14.xx firmware and you are trying to edit a timer with Series Link / Accurate Recording info. If you can confirm which firmware you are running and if you are setting the Timers from the native EPG or from a TAP then we can take it from there.

Yes the box came with 5.14.08 and I uploaded 5.14.09+. I am trying to adjust a timer taken from the EPG.

If the channel on which you set the timer broadcasts series link info, then you can't alter the time, as it's assumed to be using the Accurate Recording feature.

If there is no series link info, then pressing Record will allow you to alter the details - you'll be asked if you want to record by time of day, rather than programme name first.

You can create a timer manually via the menu, and set it to whatever you want. You don't need to set the name when you do that - if you leave it blank, it will be set at recording time, based on the name of the programme from now&next.

If you don't use the built in series link, then I'd suggest you swap firmwares to 5.13.65NitFix, which doesn't have series link but is more stable and reliable overall, and will let you amend timers more fully.

Thanks for that. Will I lose any features?

You will lose the series link feature, and the faster winding, and some of the on-screen texts won't be quite as clearly worded.

But, there are some patches that will make the fast winding faster again, and change the language too.
