What to look for in a flat screen?
Hi,
I've been looking to get a flat screen TV and I've looked into what can such as contrast ratio/inputs and size etc.. Can anyone suggest anything less obvious or glaringly important I should look for before I commit? I'm swaying towards a Sharp Aquos.... TIA for any advice. |

My three biggies is Motion Response, SD Performance and Viewing angle. You can only truly find these through expert review sites like Trusted Reviews, HDTVorg and What Home Cinema etc AND VIEWING IN PERSON
Always have 2 or 3 sets in mind that are similar spec, age, size and price but different brands etc. Compare reviews and narrow it down to two - On of my Golden Rules is to Look at TV's set up in independent HiFi / AV Shops like Richer Sounds etc. They usually have good brand and spec TVs set up correctly to their full potential so you can compare and get good advice. Also be fully aware of advantages and disadvantages each display / brand and technology. LCD Gripes such as poor colour accuracy and motion blur, or plasma gripes like image retention and display brightness. Have you considered alternatives like Plasma?- usually offer better colour, contrast, SD performance, motion and viewing angle. dont just go off specs and looks on the web. |
