I have been sold! I want one so badly!
Should not have gone into the Apple store!
I am now on the look out for one.
Found them on Ebay for £160 - I am so tempted, but shall resist just now.

I just love the touch mechanism, having already got a P2, and the fact that it does so much more than play music. I also experienced what it is like with good headphones

So, i've heard that Apple release all their new stuff in September (Or announce it?).
Would there be any real reason to wait till then? I can't see them changing the stuff much... Maybe bigger storage etc... I'm guessing the price of the "old" ones will drop too (As in 2nd hand)? Not that i am bothered about spending £160 on one as Apple want £270...

So, anything i should know about them before i jump in and get one? Tips and tricks?

The only thing I can tell you is you will NOT regret this purchase
That seems a good price for a 16GB one too, do the pictures show any obvious wear and tear? The back tends to scratch at the drop of a hat.

The ONLY bad thing I have found after buying mine is that now I want an iPhone. And that's gonna cost me.

Well, i went and bought it at 0515 this morning haha.
I couldn't resist! At £154.99 i couldn't resist! The man has sent it out this morning How good is that!?

It has hardly been used and for its short lifetime it has been kept in a casing and and iPod Sock. The only thing i could notice was fingerprints ;]

It only has FW1.1 on it but i'm not fussed at spending £6 on 2.0 since it's only costing me £155 quid.

I have my eyes on some of the apps and games too! Who knew such a small thing could do so much!?

As i have said before - I love Apple stuff, but not so sure on the laptops, but it has always been the price that has put me off!

coolboy: you change your tune! i seem to remember your saying that the P2 was superior to the ipod touch in every way.

and now you love apple stuff. previously anyone was nuts if they spent more on a laptop than you did!

Believe me, you made a good buy.

I love my iPod Touch, its something you will never get bored of as theres so much it can do. I will recommend the 2.0 Update, I purchased it and its made my touch even more useful - Ive downloaded some brilliant apps from the appstore such as Tuner which can make your touch an Internet Radio that I find works brilliantly considering the price Internet Radio Systems are these days.

I also love an application called 'Ambience' which is basically a series of sounds on a loop to help you wind down and relax. Included sounds are things like crickets, waves, rain and wind and theres a sleep mode so you can time your ipod to shut down after a certain amount of time

Sorry I know im rabbiting on but that just proves my point The iPod Touch has so many great features!

I wondered when you would pop up ;]
I didn't say that - I merely pointed out the things the P2 does that are useful that the iPod Touch should have (Bluetooth etc).

I am not fussed at all by Multi Touch - Nice feature but single touch works fine for me.

I also never said that about the laptops - However, having had a "tour" round the diferent versions of the Macs available i can say that they are not worth the money Apple ask for them! They are plasticy and nasty looking... Some of them were broken and extremely slow.

I may like the Touch, but i am not sold on the laptops. I am still far from an Apple lover.

Well, i don't.

To clear up that statement:

I love the Apple iPod Touch (Not so sure about the iPhone).
I dislike the cheapy looking, plasticy MacBooks.
I dislike the iMac due to its looks and slowness.
I dislike most Apple products due to their price - £2410 for a MacBook!
I dislike the fact you have to buy almost everything separately. Mouse and keyboard - £68!

So, yes. I love the Touch, but dislike the rest. My opinion.

Anyway, as far as things go i have already got a ton of music videos and downloaded Apps including:

Binary Clock
Tap Tap
Bubblewrap
Koi Karp
iPint
Myspace
Scribble
Mahjong
Top40
Italian Phrases

Looks like it will be good this weeks free song is not bad either ;]

I dislike the cheapy looking, plasticy MacBooks. - Agreed.
I dislike the iMac due to its looks and slowness. The base model comes with a 2.4 Core 2 Duo. Thats not slow.
I dislike most Apple products due to their price - £2410 for a MacBook! When you add on every single option..some of which just wouldnt make sense for everyone, so whats the point using that as a standard price.
I dislike the fact you have to buy almost everything separately. Mouse and keyboard - £68! Every desktop mac bar the Mini come with a keyboard and mouse.

The iMac we got a tour on was only 6 months old the man said and it took 3 mins to become usable (After him trying to turn it on 3 times!)
The £2410 one wasn't full of useless stuff - It was for a bigger hard drive, 1GB more RAM, and a wee Processor speed increase.
The iMac doesn't come with them - It costs £800 on its own. I feel that is bad value for money...

I am happy with Windows and their prices. It does me.

Now i have the best of both worlds - Windows laptop, Apple MP3

i don't know where you get your prices or specs from!

macbooks start at £699. increasing ram from 1GB to 2GB is £60 and to 4GB is £180. increasing storage from 120GB to 160GB is £30 and to 250GB is £90. if that doesn't represent value for you, that's fair enough after all there are many many other notebooks at a far lower price .... but let's not pretend that macbook costs £2410. even a 17" macbook PRO with optional 2.6GHz processor, optional 4GB RAM and optional 300GB storage isn't £2,410 but £2,128.

imacs clearly come with a keyboard and mouse as chris.. has explained to you.

i have no idea what was wrong with the imac you tried, but generally speaking they are blazing fast. you can't extrapolate a general truth from your one unsatisfactory experience.

glad you're enjoying the ipod touch. try super monkey ball. i haven't but it's pretty popular although they say hard to master.

The prices i have quoted are all from the Apple Store in Glasgow.
The iMac they were selling didn't come with keyboard or mouse - They wanted £68 for that.

And, yes i will be enjoying the iPod touch when it gets here. got lots lined up for it.

although, i've hear there might be changes regarding software come September. I have to put 2.0 on it as it is only 1.1 just now. How big a change do you think it will be?

apple is so secretive that no-one knows what september will bring.

but if your ipod touch doesn't already have mail, stocks, maps, weather and notes, the version 2.0 will bring these along with the all important ability to use third party apps from the app store.

Too late.
Also, what can they make new about it?
A new bigger HDD and 3G... If they did anything else to it there would be no point in having it since it would be the same as the iPhone...

To above:

Aye, i will stick 2.0 on it - Have downloaded loads of Apps for it.

It's here

1 question - What is the wee white thingy for that comes in the box that fits on the bottom of the iPod that has a sticky cover on it?

I can't work out what it is for at all...

It's a universal dock insert, so if you have an older iPod dock, you can fit the iPod Touch into it.

Odd, the wireless mouse upgrade is £13.99 and the wireless keyboard is £20.00. iMac come with wired version of both, the box is designed for them to come that way.

Even on their own the prices are as follows:
wired keyboard: £29.00
wired mouse: £35.00
wireless keyboard: £49.00
wireless mouse: £49.00

And those prices are from the apple store online. Even upgrading to include both on a Mac Mini is £64.00 and £79.00 for wired and wireless respectively. Unless the figures were somehow without VAT and for a Mac Mini.

Between 0.1 and 2MB.
Some of the games and bigger paid for ones are about 5-11MB.

Some Apps cost up to £90! The games, main ones, are £6 and the user created ones are between £2 and £5. Some of them are well worth it though.

Having said that, i have a "page and a half" of free games on the Touch already.

It really is great The internet on it is fantastic!

Or £146 if you buy it from ebuyer.

Or down to about £120 in the USA.

Still insanely expensive though.

But .... Microsoft make plenty alternatives to that one at a fraction of the price.

Do Apple do a cheaper version of their wireless keyboard and mouse?
