If your screen is prone to image retention/screen burn you can help in reducing it's affects by turning the contrast down.
Some displays offer features like white wash/inverter that remove image retention, these are normally found in the TV's menu, the user manual will also cover this. If your TV doesn't have any feature/s to guard against these affects you can always tune to a vacant channel, one that has not been tuned in to a station and leave the scrambled image on screen for 10mins as this can have the same affect as white wash etc. If the retention is quite severe you may have to leave it on for much longer, so long as the image hasn't been burnt in it will fade over time. |

I have a samsung plasma.
I've had screen retention a few times from sky logos/tv guide etc when the kids have left it on. Best way to eliminate the retention is to put the tv on a channel like which has no logos and changes content, like bbc1 and leave it on for a few hours. |
