The battery on my 3rd Generation iPod has just about had it. Is it worth replacing it and can anyone recommend a supplier please?

batteries are pretty cheap for that generation. kits and tutorials are all over the net.
whether its worth it, sure it is.

I've got the same problem now so thought I'd revisit this thread.

There are some dirt cheap batteries around on eBay and some pricier ones from well-known manufacturers, but (puts on Harry Hill voice) which is the best?

I was advised to do it myself on this forum .I was sceptical that i'd manage it , but hamfisted as I am the battery was only 99p from Ebay and the instructions were easy to follow and after about 15 minutes fumbling my ipod has been given a new lease of life

Just to follow this up, I bought a battery off eBay - under two quid, new and mint condition - and fitted it today. So far it's been charged and started playing several hours ago and still going strong, so first impressions are good.

However... even using the plastic tools supplied with the battery I managed to distort the iPod's metal case with the result that two halves don't quite fit together properly. The job was easy, maybe too easy, which makes me wonder if the iPod's casing was already a bit loose. Oh well, it should last another few months before I have to replace it.
