ASUS EEE - "pending" when trying to connect to Sky Broadband.

i have an ASUS EEE and cannot get it to connect to Sky Broadband. i've tried three different friends' Sky routers, entered the code off the back (that works with a normal laptop), and all i get is "pending".

a number of customers have returned their's as they also cannot connect in their homes.

can anyone help with a solution please?

thanks in anticipation.

Hi,

I sometimes have problems connecting with my EEE too. What I find helps is to switch wireless off (Fn+F2), switch back on, refresh wireless networks and then reconnect.

Also, it's worthwhile making sure that when you enter the code, you are picking the correct choice of WEP/WPA.

Hope you manage to get connected!

Hi Richie
Change your router encryption from WPA to WEP, I had exactly the same problem when I bought mine last week and after reading on the asus eepc forums my OH changed the encryption and it works fine now.

cheers for the replies, it's other people's routers that i have problems with.

i'll try your idea krindy but, strawb, i can't make other's change their encryption.

here's some advice from Asus that may help us all when we're out and about...

To connect wirelessly to the internet you have to do following:
• Go to “internet”
• Go to “network”
• Click on Local Area Network – Wireless and next
• Click on next
• Click on Dynamic IP Address (DHCP) and next
• Choose your network and click on next
• Choose “any” and next
• Choose enable encryption, fill in your security key and click on next
• Fill in “name of connection”
• Choose “connect automatically at system startup” and “start this connection when finished”
• Click on “finish”
