Does anyone have a manual for the PVR?

Specifically, what is the USB port for? HDD expansion?

Also, my free space indicator went 0% and has stuck there ever since. Even deleting everything makes no difference.

Hi Peter,

USB not currently in use.
About your free space indicator, I had this just come through which might explain. Please let me know if otherwise:

Quote:
“ I suspect that the customer is suffering from a common misunderstanding about what is being stated as "available". The figure includes the predicted usage of all bookings as well as recorded content. If I am right, he is seeing is a bar with two colours, the colour on the left is the usage of the recordings and the colour on the right is the booked content. Totally free space is seen as a black portion of the bar on the right if there is more than 0% available.

If he wishes to see the difference, the easiest way would probably be to:

* Switch to the bookings view
* Change a number of series bookings to episode bookings (it takes a second or two to update the bar)

Don't cancel the series booking as then you'd have to go and find it in the schedule again!”

Bearing in mind how many hours of recordings you've already stored, (yes, I do know )and how many bookings you've made, this seems a likely explanation.

Cheers

As this thread is entitled "Tiscali+", I hope it's OK to digress slightly:

Given the amount of space reserved on the hard drive for series link bookings, I'm surprised that Telsey didn't install at least a 250gb drive. It's not only the Tiscali+ box: I see in other forums that users of other PVRs have been puzzled when their HDD is showing nearly full when they've only got a few recordings on it. My Tiscali+ was showing only 2% remaining when I had 20hrs maximum of recordings on it. I had to cancel some series link bookings.

I hope you'll be available for guidance, MK_B, when I try to upgrade my HDD

What is the point of a % age indicator that shows 0% at all times?

If I understand correctly, it indicates nothing except that the hard disk will be full with future recordings. Surely a indication of how much space is currently empty would be more useful?

Upgrading the HDD yourself will probably invalidate your warranty.

The original Tivo's don't tell you how much space is left either .

MK_Brett: Why is it not currently in use? The current Tiscali+ PVR is Linux based so there is no problem to enable it, even if the exernal disk had to be ext3 formatted like the internal one or fat32. It would be great for extending disk capacity, it means more recording hours. Thanks a lot for adding the subtitles in the last software upgrade

Regards, Cam
