Fantastic price.

Not multi-region out of the box but very easy to remote hack it.

1. Turn on the unit
2. Open the loading tray
3. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
4. Navigate to the "Preferences" page using the right arrow key
5. Enter 138931
6. You will now see the current region code displayed
7. Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the region required or "0" for all regions
8. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
9. Press "OK" on the remote

.... and it's multi-region.

I almost bought one this afternoon but on checking beforehand, it doesn't have optical audio out. Thats a deal breaker for me so my search goes on.

But, for that money, it's an excellent player that'll play pretty much anything you care to throw at it.

check if Currys have it in stock, then go to one of the Richer Sounds stores who also have it, and they will beat Currys price by a fiver

Unfortunately, unless you get lucky and get an idiot in Richer Sounds, that won't work. I tried it myself at the weekend (did you also see it on hotukdeals by any chance?).

The Currys one is NOT multi-region (although easy enough to hack it) out of the box, the Richer Sounds one IS. On that basis, the guy I spoke to said they wouldn't price match it (I did try mentioning the remote hack but he wasn't going for it). He also mentioned that the colour has to be the same.

They've probably got wise to it now. I suspect they'll have had quite a few calls along these lines as it's a deal (a duff one unfortunately) that doing the rounds on the net just now ....

Yep was hotukdeals
didnt know that RS would make it so hard to price match, sorry. I figured if the model number was the same it would be ok.

But still a great machine for the currys price anyway.

I'm off to mark a hotukdeal a little colder
