After a couple more e-mails to the CEO Office and waiting for them to investigate the issue with Openreach I have had an official response regarding the problem, although not the ideal solution. This is the response from BT (Given I am trying to swap ISP from Virgin to O2),

"Openreach have advised there are 2 solutions to the matter regarding your application for Broadband.

The quickest solution would be to renumber the telephone service with a telephone number that is recognised as a Haydon number.

If you do not wish to change your telephone number, there are ongoing discussions with O2 for long term solutions. 1 is for O2 to install a second DSLAM into Haydon Wick which will then recognise Blunsdon numbers as on Haydon. However power and space is limited. Openreach are also looking into changing the number structuring. Both these are long term solutions, especially the latter and I have been advised it is hard to give any timescale on them."

So basically if you want to swap ISP after the Exchange Migration it appears you need a new number.

I dont mind a new phone number, but does anybody have any idea how much this would cost? Do we get a discount considering it is problems in the exchange causing this?

I don't know the cost for certain as I haven't pursued yet because we were thinking of moving and didn't want the hassle of a number change. Although I am still thinking about it.

One thing I have just noticed is that after all the work in getting the exchange listing changed the BT ADSL site has gone back to saying we are Blunsdon Exchange again!!

Well I found this thread after signing up to O2, their online checker says my number is fine and capable of 14meg etc etc...

I'm in "Redhouse", Swindon (opposite ASDA for those who know!) and have an 70 number, not 72. Apparently I'm on the Haydon exchange now but, as seems to have been the case for months am listed as being on Blunsdon by BT - FFS!

My status on O2 checker for signing up has gone "red" so I called and the issue is the exchange one - The one glimmer of hope is that they say my line should be fine and that they are getting their own equipment put in at Haydon on Tuesday, tomorrow (24/03/09) and should be able to sort it manually themselves!

So this could just be fobbing me off, I don't know but it sounds promising. It just annoys me that these big corporations (BT) can cock things up so much and there's nothing you can do to fix it! Jeez. Anyone else had any joy with this situation yet??
