Hi,

Our 32" tv has been "magnetized" by a magnet from hell. We decided we need a new one because this is the old Toshiba model bigguses chunkiess and ugliess (well in my opinion anyway) So we decided to settle for plasma, now this is were I need your help. Which one?

I have narrowed it down to three,

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...EPLASMA+TV.htm (50")

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...EPLASMA+TV.htm (50")

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...EPLASMA+TV.htm (42")

Now I chose the 42" one because it will fit a stand we have, but thats not all important. Can someone or some people, help me choose which one mainly because I don't want to go out and get another one in 1 years time after spending nearly a grand on the other one. Which is really unlikely.

Thanks in advance,

-N34

Oh and can someone tell me the HD thingy of them all ( 1080p/i 720p or whatever as argosd doesn't tell you.

A lot depends upon what source you intend to feed it with, SD sources always look worse on a Larger HD screen, that said either of the Samsungs would be fine IMO. You might get some "Ghostly" comments about Samsung from at least one forum member but in my opinion I rate my LE40M86 LCD & Samsung BD P1400 blu ray player very highly.

On the whole the LG sets don't tend to get favourable reports.

All the sets listed are 720P

With a bit of shopping around you might also be able to pick up a Panasonic Plasma within your budget, these are usually highly regarded.

The large screen Samsung are not bad - almost as good as the higher priced Sony's, Panasonics on quality but are less reliable. I do not normally rate the smaller screen Samsungs (as some members may have noticed )as I feel the quality is not that good compaired to other makes, but as I said, I think the larger screens are better.

The Panasonic plasma in the previous post is a superb TV and is full HD (with 100Hz?) and cheaper in Currys

Samsung PS42Q97HD is my choice for best all round performance and picture quality.

Do a search on google and read the reviews.

Also, I found a seller on ebay selling the PS50A457HD Samsung in Sheffield for £700 with 3 year warranty.

I went with my friend to collect one and they are a very good shop/warehouse and the prices are fantastic. I would recommend them to anyone.

These are the people but they only have the 42" at the moment by the looks of it.

£200 less than Argos!

Meh! SD broadcasts are going to haunt me, I have V+! And that upscales right? ( actually it does :P) The quality on my uncle's 42" plasma was amazing! With V+. Thanks for the info guy's. I'm going to wait till the end of the week before I decide and buy! So any comments and suggestions are welcome until then.

Oh and I think I'm defiantly going for a Samsung, mainly because of the popularity and design. I was actually going to go for Samsung because of the curves, I can't seem to find any 42 " Samsungs with curves Well not in retail stores anyway, but I'm not going to buy online. Just don't feel like it.

Well now, I've actually been hypnotized by this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/5294251.htm

Apparently it has all these features such as 24p Cinema thingamabob, I mean do these even work for a start any difference in the quality or not, because these sound good, but I don't want my TV crammed full of all these features that don't even do anything to the quality.

I doubt that 24p makes much difference as I do not know of any source than a few blu-ray. The TV is Full HD which sould make a difference if watching from a 1080i/p HD source. The Sony TV looks good though and should have a good picture quality.

OK thanks, I don't have blueray and I'm not really going to buy either. Nut now my head hurts cause of this.

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...65984.htm#tab3
In the catalog it is 799.99. Which price is it? Or have they mistaken that with this product? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/5294251.htm
And I cant seem to find that on the Sony website (Don't really want to go into that)

I actually wanted http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...65984.htm#tab3 but then now I have to choose this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/5294251.htm. Or if I take it to Argos and say to them that its on price here and different over here, which will they charge me for?

The expensive one is the KDL40V4000, the cheaper one is the KDL40L4000. The more expensive one is a higher spec but its not worth the extra money. The lower priced one should be a great TV.
