TomTomOne(v3) Battery Life

Anyone got one of these and know how long it usually takes to charge fully via USB on a PC?

And then how long would I expect the battery to last for on use?

Charged it for about 3 hours last night but it only lasted about 2 hours when using today. Seems a bit poor to me.

Is that right or have I got a faulty one that needs to be replaced?

Its still in its warranty.

Can't speak for the One but my 730 takes about 2 to 3 hours to fully charge the battery Not entirely sure how long it runs though as I use the car charger when driving.

Though I did do a 3 hour drive and found the battery run down to the point it wouldn't switch on till I put some charge back in it. Not sure how that happened, was like it wasn't getting any power from the car adapter.

My old 520 was very similar in battery terms. It would run for not much longer than 3 hours on a full charge. Yet the original GO (the first TomTom sat nav released) I had years ago ran for over 5 hours on a charge.

Suspect it's all down to the bigger screens and more powerful back lights on the new unit, must eat battery power. If so i suspect turning down the brightness will improve things to a degree.

My One XL lasts about an hour tops (and always has done since about 2nd week of use) - the batteries in the latest TomToms seem terrible. I just always use it plugged into the ciggy lighter

As these are designed to be used in a vehicle it is assumed you are going to have it plugged in to the cigarette lighter

all the tomtom range even from the word go last about 2/3 hours and take about the same to charge up

the only one with good battery life is garmin they last about 5/6 hours on a full charge

The battery on my One XL has died after 9 months. It used to last a couple of hours (although I've only run it on batteries a couple of times when I forgot to plug in it), so what you're getting would seem to be about right. Now I'm lucky if I get 5 minutes when it's not plugged in
