Sorry if this has been covered, i cant read anymore today or my head will explode.

basically i have 2x 9200's in different locations one in kent one in norfolk.

we both have the same problems.

We like to use series link but are finding that some programs mostly films are ending early.
ie: hannibal, sky captain recently both Film 4

is there anyway to still have series link active with the machine recording an extra 3 mins or so on the end of every recording?

this has happened a couple of time on channel 5 because of the news interuption 3/4 through the film, but it does happen to other channels too.

You can't use Series Link and padding. You can manually adjust the end time but this will break the Series Link. Have you tried complaining to the broadcaster?

I thought Film 4 didn't use AR and definatley not SL ... best to manually extend end time when setting reservations.

sorry i might have confused you,

I dont use series link to record films from film 4.
the films i have recorded lately have the last few minutes remaning, the obvious thing to do is the add 3 minutes or so to the end but lose series link.

I want to keep series link if i can ad find out why the films are ending early.

I guess the only way round it is to use the padding at the end.

Unless someone stopped the recording early without telling me, the last film i recorded left of nearly 10 mins off the end.

To clarify.
Setting either padding options in the menu to anything other than "on time" causes all Freeview playback/+ facilities to be disabled, ie. you will no longer have AR or Series Link.

However, when you have selected an item from the EPG to record, pressing 'yellow' will show you the list of reservations.
If you wish to, you may locate the item and adjust the start and end times.
This will turn that event only into a manual timer, it will NOT affect others set as series, nor their performance with AR, other than the risk of adjacent recordings may now clash with the extended time.

Since Film4 doesn't use Series Link, you can manually pad the times of the recording - this will not affect Series Link on other channels and allow you to see all your film.

The Film4 films probably don't have AR info so they finish at the scheduled end time, OR the AR is incorrect and signalled before end of film.

Either way for Film4 extend the end time at time of reservation to ensure the end time is later than scheduled end time.

There is no SL on Film4 and the above does nothing to AR/SL in general.

SL/AR is only disabled when you set Auto padding i.e. you declare you do not wish to use SL/AR.
