Yep - and I personally wouldn't bother making my own again!
I only really use the wholemeal one and only tend to have a tiny bit so its not that important to me to have "freah cooked" rice!!! |

I don't know if it's my micro but I always get a solid lump in one corner!
![]() Edit; Just thought, if I tip it out of the bag and put it into a bowl with clingfilm on top that wouldn't happen? Doh!!!! |

I dont like them. I think they smell plastic'y from being in the microwave. I make them for the chickens, and if the dogs are ill ...... but i wont eat them myself.
I mean, cooking rice on the hob doesnt exactly take long does it. |

I mean, cooking rice on the hob doesnt exactly take long does it. I only tend to eat wholemeal rice and when I cook it on the hob it takes me half an hour or so!!! However when I bung in a packet of Uncle Ben's - hey presto in 2 minutes!! As I don't have much rice with my meal and usually I'll have rice with something pretty juicy (chilli / sweet and sour chicken etc) I can't taste the rice anyway

Yes I always have a few in the cupboard for convenience. It is only ever the long grain and the wholemeal ones I buy, I don't think they taste as good as boiled rice done in the pot but they are a bloody good substitute when the OH is working late and I'm cooking for myself, a microwave veg curry with express rice and nan.... takes all of 10 mins to make.

![]() U/bens seem rather dry in comparison and the range of flavours is small in comparison to Tilda's |

I agree with others here. The Tilda one's are much nicer, and loads more flavours. They're on offer at Sainsbury's at the moment too!

I find most of the flavours tasteless, but I like the mexican one, even if the rice is a bit chewy.

Tip::
Boil the Kettle. Cut off the corner of the sachet. Pour a few drops of boiling water into the sachet. This stops the rice clogging and makes it more moist. I like them. They are great for a "Meal for One" and there is no claggy saucepan to wash up! |
