Hi there,

I have a T68i on T-mobile and it always loses signal and says Invalid Mobile. Given it to Dixons The Link many times to fix but after taking six weeks at a time, it always comes back the same!

Anyway, my upgrade is due and they offered me a T610 (much better phone I believe) for £50. However some people I know have managed to get one for free (from T Mobile).

Has anyone else managed to get a spanking top-of-the-range phone from their phone company for free? And if so, how did you do it?

It is all about spend level.
If you are a high spender and threaten to leave then you can get all sorts of stuff out of them. If you are a heavy user of their other services, like GPRS etc then they will not want to loose you as they make big money out of them.

All the networks want to increase their ARPU - average revenue per user. Therefore if you are low spender then they will not care - big spenders they love.
I have a friend who spends close to £200 a month on her phone (she lives on it and gets withdrawl symptoms if she cannot find it) and gets a new phone from the operator about every six months - usually free of charge.

You will need to speak to retentions, or give notice and wait for retentions to call you.
Tell them that you can get ex phone for ex amount a month and with ex calls, but if they can even come close then you might reconsider.

Simon.

I'm on the T Mobile Everytime 200 OffPeak Tarrif at £15 month, but usually spend £20-25 a month with other charges, would I be able to demand an upgrade to a v200 after starting the contract back in Jan?.
