DMR-EX75EB has lost all its freeview channels

The Panasonic DMR-EX75EB is a hdd dvd digital tv recorder.

My father bought this machine about 14 months ago and it has suddenly lost all it digital channels. When he goes into the EPG it comes up with the matrix of channels and time, but with no programme information.

We have tried doing a rescan, but to no avail. At first we thought it was linked to the recent news stories regarding the upgrade of Freeview blocking some boxes, but that doesn't seem to apply to more recent boxes. We know his arerial and signal are ok, as he has another digibox that is working fine.

I have read elsewhere that these machines have been know to have their digital tunes die around this age, but wondered if anyone had experienced this and had a repair or had contact from Panasonic about it.

Any help or advice would be welcome.

An overnight power disconnection and then a rescan has been known to restore some cases.

Hi Gavtech

Unfortunately despite removal of the electricity supply overnight and resetting and returning to factory settings the scan of digital channels still shows no channels found. It continues to scan and find all the analogue channels. So it does look like a tuner problem.

I was hoping that someone reading this may have had contact with Panasonic and could advise on if Panasonic are helpful about the problem and what sort of costs are involved in repair, or if a home repair is possible.
