Please excuse my ignorance but can anyone tell me what kind of number is a number which starts with 07036?

Is it a premium rate no? A mobile no? What kind of no? Would you also be able to tell me how much a number like that would cost me a minute? I've been told its a special type of mobile no. but one that you can't text or can text you back.

I think i may be getting scammed but i'm not sure. I'd appreciate any advice/guidance.

You'll get info here about it. Seems they charge 50p per minute.

My mobile gave one ring the other day. I checked and there was a missed call from an 07042 number.

Presumably this is a scam to get you to call back and thus get charged a premium rate?

I know that autotrader offer a service called telesafe which displays a 070 number instead of your own.

No idea who would ring out on one though...

07036 - Allocated - Cheers International Sales Limited - 02/2008

Details about the number from Ofcom. You can be sure that all 070 numbers are scams / sales / something you don't need or want!

Not true - 070 numbers can be bought/acquired by individuals for personal reasons. I for instance have an 07050 number that I can redirect anywhere I want and I give it to companies that I want to do business with. Most of the time it's directed to my mobile, but I sometimes send it directly to my answer service without diverting my mobile to voicemail.

it's fair to say that an 070 number is probably something you don't want.

there are some legit uses, but usually you'd know about it.

it's worth remembering that mobile numbers begin 077, 078 and 079

Originally 070 numbers were being pushed as "follow me" numbers. The idea being to have one number that you could redirect to any other number, landline or mobile.

But there does seem to be a spate of these "1 ring" going on. I've had a few myself and the number seemed one digit short so I checked the ofcom lists and then the network call costs.

Yes, but most people don't have them. And if you have a missed call from a 070 number, it's going to be a sales call more than likely. If an individual has an 070 divert number, it will not work on outgoing calls and the actual number will be displayed to the person you are calling.

They also begin 075.
