But I know exactly what you mean. The minute the sob story started rolling I just thought "Let's get the violin out " and it's difficult to warm to someone when their sob story is milked so much by the editing.”

You're right actually. She was probably better than I give her credit for. Definitely has potential, I just find it hard to see through the sob story card lol.

I thought she had a great jazz voice. With right songs she could be fantastic but if they give the same cliched material as usual to sing then she might not do so well (unless they have some very good arrangers).

I agree

I agree. I didnt mind the sob story because they obviously made a thing to get it out their before it came out in the press. And she wasnt wimping on and crying about her kids etc, she just said it how it is and she had the talent to back it up.

I thought Rachel was amazing, best so far by a mile! Loved her sound, loved her story (which is unusual for me).. and most of all loved her wee smile when she got through!

Lets be honest, there's "rough around the edges" and there's drug conviction, five kids, god knows what else might come out "rough around the edges". ITV would never want her winning their flagship show and they could never use her internationally as drug convictions are the worse for immigration entry ... a lot of the big pop stars have convictions but rarely drug ones. I'm sure they want a winner where they have all their options open!

Yes Rachel.

What can I say AMAZING VOICE with nerves. Just wait till she gets some professional tuition to fine tune her natural talent.

She is definitely going to go all the way, without a doubt.

Pure talent.

I liked her.

I'm pretty sure she'll be through to the live shows where her sob story will be pushed in our faces at every opportunity eventually making me sick of her. But for now I did think she was very good.

I'm just not seeing it myself. Also, call me a hard cow but I fail to feel all that sorry for her - surely she must have heard of contraception?

I'm not saying she can't sing - hell, she can sing miles better than I can, but to me it was a Winehouse impersonation. Sorry.

Note for note Amy Winehouse. She should have sung something by Duffy perhaps.

You should not judge a singer on their background, judge them based on their voice.

Rachel had no choice to tell her story, as it would have been used against her by the tabloids.

She was not impersonating Amy, she does not need to, if you listen to her you will hear she sound nothing like Amy, she has her own indivduality.

She had to sing a song know to the judges, and that one obviously suits her type of voice.

I know but when the sob story's being pushed it's hard not to!! Just the cow in me!! If we all liked the same people life would be boring indeed. I personally think Amy was far better. (The Amy who sang Power of Love).

I don't think they should rely so much on their life stories...they get edited that way as well so the public feel sorry for them and want to vote for them. She was good but nothing special, it was like Stars In Their Eyes, she should have chose a different song, not one that shows exactly how like the original singer is, X-Factor I think is about being unique, there are so many great singers out there but you need someone who turns up with a voice that's new.
