Does anyone find ultra-sharp hd picture distracting?

I have a ps3 attached to a sony kdl32d3000 by hd. When i watch dvds through it i find i am distracted by the overly sharp picture.

i have checked my tv settings and sharpness is reduced to zero, all mpeg noise reduction is turned off. I have searched the settings for the ps3 but cant find any sharpness controls for it.

Can anyone help me stop my dvds looking so fake?

It sounds like you are simply sitting too close to the set.

btw, turning noise reduction on will help soften the picture.

I remember watching "Live at the Apollo" on BBC HD, and the wine coloured drape's at the back of the performer made my eye's start to water like hay fever!, nuts!

On my Sony (W4000) I turn the sharpness right down and also turn off any noise reduction or other 'enhancements' and then it looks a lot better and not artificial. Also too much contrast and colour can really ruin things.....
