PAYG Divert Issue
I've got an old (unlocked) phone which I've put in an Orange PAYG simcard and I need to get it diverted to my current phone (on a Vodafone contract).
I've tried everything, but the divert doesn't work at all and when I rang Orange they tell me that the divert feature is not available on Orange PAYG. ![]() I've read some threads from several years ago on this forum that gave mixed replies on this subject, but need to find out if ANY mobile provider now offers the divert option from a PAYG sim? This is really important for me to find out, so I can then get a PAYG sim from whoever and divert my calls. |

You cannot use call divert on any pay go network!
It's only available to pay monthly customers, apart from Virgin Mobile... They don't support call divert at all! |

You must have money to burn if you want to do that as you'd be paying for a call from the PAYG phone to your contract phone every time someone called your PAYG phone.
It would be cheaper to simply carry the PAYG phone around with you. |

It would be cheaper to simply carry the PAYG phone around with you. With a PAYG divert, I can ditch the PAYG sim anytime and get a new one with a different number and then re-forward it to my genuine phone. I'm not expecting that many calls so cost is not relevant. If I can't achieve this, is there any other service I could subscribe to that could allocate me a dummy phone number which I can then forward to my genuine number? |

Yes there is, personal numbers.
They begin 070 and cost more to phone than 'normal' numbers, but they can be pointed at any mobile or landline number of your choice, and can be changed to point at a different number by yourself as and when needed. Just google 'personal number' and i think you'll find plenty of companies offering them, most for free. |

I checked out the Personal Numbers (070x) and it appears that it would cost the caller 50p+ to ring you which is not what I want at all seeing as I'm trying to get new business!!
Unless someone comes on this thread and tells me different, I've got to assume that NO NETWORK offers a call divert from PAYG option. ![]() An option I'm having to consider now is to sign up to Skype which gives you a standard UK landline number for people to call which can easily be forwarded to any number of my choice at minimal cost. Has anyone had any experience of using this? |

There are other options. You can buy handsets which have two SIMs active at a time, so you could put a PAYG sim into your phone. You could just carry a PAYG phone around with you. You could talk to a communications provider about call forwarding or bureau services. You could get an 03 number. You could get an 070 number.

Has anyone had any experience of using this? You could get an 0800 number and divert that to your mobile for a reasonable cost. Then your customers would pay nothing to call you (from a landline at least) Or have a normal landline number permantly diverted to your mobile. You don't have to have a 'real' line to do this. BT for instance will supply you with a number, divert it to your mobile and any calls diverted to you, you pay for at the mobile rate - variable depending on the time of day. As prking has said, there are many options available to you, and all of them are cheaper than what you originally wanted to do (even though that wasn't possible!) |
