Hi all,

I have been uploading recordings to my pc then attempting to make dvds using elinker to upload, and dvr studio to do the next bit.

I keep getting the message "this file is not a valid dvb transport stream" when I try and insert fiels to dvrstudio pro, with certain files. I've tried using different software to dvrstudio and just get error messages with the same file. Is there any reason for this and anything i can do? They play back on the humax unit itself fine, just cant get them to PC. I think i got round this before by playing the files and re-recording them onto the unit, but that will be v time consuming.

Also its just run out of warranty which is annoying as i think the unit itself might be nackered.

Try the freeware VLC media player from Videolan.
If it can play the transferred .ts transport stream files directly, and you've nothing else to do the job, it also has the capability to transcode - set it to mpeg2 PS (programme stream).

If the .ts files are proved OK there may be a setting in your usual software to accomodate them. Are they all from one channel/broadcaster/mux ? Look in the menus for settings for PIDS, and also see if there is a forum for your software, they may have the solution.

Damn it plays the ones that worked before but not the others, just scrolls along with no vid or sound.

Are you transferring with Media eLinker ?
Assuming those files have transferred with undetected errors, that could be the cause.
If you don't have version 2.5 (or whatever version is current), download and update it.
Otherwise the alternative Humax Media Controller provides for error correction (multi-pass downloading if required).

Yes that sounds like it could be it, ive been using the old e-linker so maybe it needs upgrading... I'll try and let you know..
