BT Line - Reconnection
Next-Man

Hey,
I want to get reconnected with BT but they say that they might charge £125 if my line isn't active.
I have the socket. Is there a way to check if its active or not before ordering or could they tell me while I'm ordering because I don't want to pay for reconnection.

BT should be able to tell you when you call but remember the presence of a socket doesn't mean to say you have/had a BT line - it might be/have been another provider's (e.g. Talk Talk) and, if so, BT will charge to connect/reconnect.

Anyway, there's a £29.99 connection offer on at the moment - see HERE.

Make sure you understand the conditions if you go for that though.

I definitely know that it was with BT in the past because then I went with Telewest(at the time).

So if I want to get the 29.99 connection offer do I just mention it to them about the offer? I know that its a 18 month contract after readin the conditions

plug a known working handset into the master socket.......

you may be able to hear a dialtone, in which case the line is classed as "stopped" i think.

If it's totally dead then it will be classed as "ceased" and you will have to pay.
(if my memory serves me right)

but the special offer 29.99 is quite good, so now would be the time to do it!

dial 17070 on the line, this will give you it's phone number. mention this when ordering the re-connection as this will help them to re-activate the correct line.

Hey, how far do you live from the exchange as the crow flies, I couldn't reply to you before on a different topic. That should give us a good idea of what speeds you should expect.

According to Postcode.org.uk - I am 1.9 miles away as the crow files.
