Baker/Davison for me. All that stuff with The Watcher, and the music . . amazing!

But can I post another link to this - The Pertwee/Baker regeneration given a modern-make over!

Mine has to be the Non-regeneration at the end of the last series. When he started to do it in Stolen Earth was like and then when he didnt and he just carried on like nothing had happened it was awesome lol!

I'm gonna say Davison's regeneration into Colin at the end of 'The Caves Of Androzani'.

For me, it just worked so well - there was a real sense of foreboding about it, from the foreshadowing of the regeneration which Davison's Doctor shakes off at the end of episode three, to the death knell chiming throughout the entirety of the final episode.

And the effect itself was well-realised; I liked the companions returning with their words of support, which contrasted well with the Master calling for the Doctor's final end. In the book, it was implied that it was the Master's mocking that gave the Doctor the requisite impetus to succeed in his renewal.

Plus, the mention of 'Adric' as his final word was a neat and poignant touch.

Worst regeneration would have to be Pertwee into Tom...

Cypher

One thing I don't understand about that regenration scene is why Perri moves away from him...does she know that he was going to change for definite??? It just seems a bit odd, considering he just saved her life...

For me the best regenration is the one from CE to DT, mainly because I have an emotional attachment to that regeneration...what with CE being my first Doctor, and I felt quite sad and annoyed that he was gone...but now as well as looking back at it in sadness that CE has gone, it also has more of a happier feel now as I know that my favourite Doctor came from that very scene

Also the regeneration scene in Stolen Earth had a huge impact on me....I fell of my chair....

McGann > Eggleston.

Best regeneration ever... I loved the part the ghosts played in it, they were pivotal. Almost makes me wonder if there should be more ghosts in Doctor Who.... hmm... Think of the possibilities!

Yes, that episode reaffirms my thoughts that there should be more ghosts in Doctor Who.

I have a feeling this is not a new idea though...

I personally think this is the best:

It gets good 2 minutes in!

Although apart from that it's probably Ecclestone - Tennant. It had more impact than the others.

Oh the day I saw that....I just could not stop wishing it happened for real....at least then the country would now be in the hands of a scotsman who isn't disliked so much....

That's my favourite too. A shame the first story after the regeneration was the most stinkingly bad in the entire history of the show but hey! it takes nothing away from the regeneration.

For some reason I always like the McCoy > McGann regeneration scene, seemed most brutal when you can hear the bones cracking and changing shape.

Best - CE to DT, well written, the right reactions and questions from the companion.

Worst - TB to PD, not so well written, basically no questions asked from the companions, none of them had seen a regeneration before and none of them even acknowledged that the Dr had completely changed into a different person, then there was all that 'Watcher' and the awful zero room nonsence.

Couldn't disagree more. All that Watcher nonsense was part of the reason Logopolis was a rancid pile of pseudo-scientific babble that even RTD would find difficult to do worse.

Have to say Hartnell to Troughton purely because it is the first time, so it had that chock factor and was done so simply.

I made my own little movie for YouTube about the missing Paul McGann/Christopher Eccleston regeneration which you can see here. There are quite a few other fan versions you can find.

I don't completely disgree with you. Logopolis is a story that seemed much better watching it as a 10 year old then as an adult. I do still love the regeneration scene, though.

I love it!

Otherwise it's probably the 9th-10th regeneration for me.

That's the first attempt at an 8th-9th generation I've seen which wasn't painfully awful and unwatchable.

Very nice work.

Best regen: Baker to Daviddddson.

Worst: Baker to McCoy. Talk about crap excuse to die.

People know my feelings on Logopolis, as I use just about every chance and the kitchen sink to slag it off. The New Beginnings box-set was the biggest waste of money I've ever bought.

I'd have to say it's a toss up between The Parting of the Ways and The Caves of Androzani. The first was the only regeneration I've watched as a current viewer, and the latter is simply one of the best Doctor Who stories I've ever watched.
