I make outgoing VOIP calls using SIP, calling landlines in Europe, using a Siemens Gigaset 460i and a rock-solid high-speed cable broadband connection.
When I make a call, I can hear the other party picking up. After a fraction of a second, sound coming in to me drops all together for approximately 2 or 3 seconds (they can still hear me). After that one-way drop out, bidirectional sound is back, and the connection stays at good call quality and rock solid even for very long calls.
Any suggestions what could cause this annoying glitch right at the beginning of every call?
I asked my VOIP provided and they had no clue. I tried a different VOIP provided just for the heck of it - no difference. I checked my firewall settings (open outbound, UPD in open on the two ports advised by the VOIP provider).
I have been using the same technology, provider and preferences for a long time. This is recent behavior, and I am unaware of any related changes on my end.
Am grateful for constructive suggestions. Thanks.
