Full HD, how many of you?

A "Wee" post to see how many forum member's have Full HD set's & if they have moved from HD set's what benefit's (If any) they have discovered. I recently went from a 32" Panansonic 100Hz HD ready set (This years model,) to a 37" non 100Hz Full HD set & I have really been enjoying the BBC HD channel via HDMI (1080i) from my Sky HD box & my Fortec Star Passion receiver, but I have no access to 1080P stuff at the moment as I chose to let my wife buy me the HD-DVD drive for my 360 last Christmas, (I told here that turkey was "Done", but hey!) so anybody with Blu-Ray in their set up, your comment's would be great.

There seems little difference with 1080P, but really it depends if it's 1080P25 or 1080P50 - if it's 1080P25, then it's no different at all to 1080i anyway.

1080P50 gives you double the frame rate (sort of a 'real' 100Hz), but the difference isn't anything startling.

I wouldn't consider it worth spending money to move to it!.

I'm a full HD person, but most of my hd material is 720p anyway

If you have 720p dont bother moving over, if you're getting a new hdtv then its always a bonus to get 1080p/50

More than happy viewing Sky HD and PS3 via my 1366x768 50" plasma and 1280x720 projector.

I have seen full HD but don't see that much of a difference to warrant spending out more upgrading my present equipment, the smaller of my two screens.

The projector is different, full HD suits the much bigger screen, the trouble is I'd need a second mortgage for the ones on my short-list.

720p (40" LCD) for me as well.

Mate has a 1080p (46" LCD) and I struggle to see any difference on the few things he has that run at full res.

Does anyone know if my Toshiba 42z3030 lcd tv is 1080p 25 or 50? (I bet Nigel knows)
Many thanks

I have a Sony 40W4000 and am viewing Sky HD ( 1080i ) content and enjoy it...sport looks great.

I have a Panny video which upscales to 1080p but am waiting for the 80Gb PS3 to get released next week then will buy that as my Blu-ray player.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with 1080P, my TV is superb as it is without 1080P.

The Pioneer processing is second to none!

Well I have had a 1080P set now for 18 months & love it, especially with Blu ray on 24fps & HD DVD at the same setting. Sky on 1080i is also excellent but now for the crunch.......it's your favourite TV manufacturer.....yes.....SAMSUNG (LE40M86BDX) & for the record it still gives most sets out there a run for their money (I know because I look at them often) but must admit I do like the Sony 40W4000 especially on SD material, however fortunately I seldom view SD

Many thanks for your replies.
Does that mean a 100HZ set is 25 or 50?
And is a 50HZ any better than 100HZ?

It bears no relation to it unfortunately.

I've always found them so, I've never rated 100Hz sets, and for an LCD even it's reason for being doesn't exist.

I can't get away with how many sub setting's there are for the colour setting's on Samsung's you could tinker until you died of old age.

Yes you are correct in that respect but in my opinion this can only be a good thing. When I first bought my set, plugged it in & did the Auto set up I was so dissapointed; I was convinced I wasted £1050 as the picture was so bad compared to my previous 32" CRT. However after spending around a day setting up one of the Inputs (Sky HD) & getting truly outstanding results it gave me starting points for the remaining inputs (HD DVD & Blu ray etc.) which meant it only took around half an hour per input.
And although my set is now "Old" at 18 months I would glady put it against any other TV for HD material but with SD material I have seen better, don't get me wrong it's not awful but it's just not as good as some.
