No you haven't. You've got discs that you can record 120 mins of video on at one particular quality setting (probably SP). But you can fit less than that on there if you record at a higher quality, and you can fit a lot more on there if you record at a lower quality. The disc itself doesn't determine how much you can fit on it - the quality of the recording determines how much you can fit on it.
Most DVD recorders can fit either six or eight hours of video on a single disc (what you call a 120 min disc) at lowest quality - I'm not sure what the Sony's lowest quality is like. I had a Panasonic DVDR that could fit 8 hours on a single disc at lowest quality. I've now got an LG DVDR that can only fit 6 hours on a single disc at lowest quality. But obviously LG lowest quality recordings are at a higher quality than Panasonic lowest quality recordings.
