apple will repair it, but its not going to be cheap..

apple set the prices for replacement parts when each new ipod comes out.. and these prices do not change.. so eventually it becomes cheaper to buy a new ipod, than to say replace just a screen!

you could see if there are any 3rd party companies that might fix it for you.. providing they can get hold of the parts.. i would recommend looking at a local market, or try some of the local mobile phone shops... these types of places will usually do repairs like this for half the price apple would..

If it's the hard drive AND the screen, I'd say it's highly unlikely to be cost effective to repair it unless you do it yourself.

By the time you add on labour to pay someone else to do it, I'm fairly certain you'd be better off just buying a new one ....

Ouch!

If they're charging £50 just to replace the battery (which I daresay you could do for around a tenner if you DIY'd it) then there is NO WAY replacing both the hard drive AND screen is going to be cost effective.

If you don't fancy trying a DIY repair, get rid and get a new one.

(You could try flogging the broken one for parts on ebay but given the HD and screen are both borked, you'd proabably only get a few quid for it)
