Oh I think that would be so brilliant!!! We've had the iconic bus, which was superb, we so need the iconic TARDIS!!!! How funny would that be???? Then DT stepping out and lighting the flame!! It will never happen, but wouldn't it be great!

It certainly is a nice thought. However it would mean the BBC changing its news channel back to News24!

The Olympics aren't about Doctor Who. I think it would be a bit insulting to people like Sir Steve Redgrave if they were passed over for an actor.”

I think you're right it would be difficult for athletes for the flame lighting to be passed to an actor but then again it is so iconic - i would laugh if it did actually come true and the person who was moving the flame to the stadium fell and some unknown picked it up (not DT) but someone else who was actually the DOCTOR.

It so would be great wish it could happen the scene i'm picturing has the glasses and everything .David plays no part with the flame how I imagine it though-more a sketch as part of the entertainment during the opening ceremony .

Should we start a petition to get David Tenant to light the Olympic flame in 2012 dressed as the Doctor, as per Fear Her?
It would be something British and iconic to start the games.”

THIS IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING EVER

Why not give the whole thing a Dr Who theme? It would confuse the hell out of most other countries and they would have to buy Dr Who box sets to work out what the hell was going on. We might make a profit out of this yet...

You would need to put him on a seven second delay in case he swore or said something offensive. Humour often gets lost in translation. Give the man a microphone and an international audience and he could start WWIII.

I'm sorry about going on about this but the concept was devised by a Canadian and a Scotsman. Silly thread being made even sillier by silly ignorant people.

No one has said anything out of malice....their hearts are in the right place....and its not really a silly thread, just a little bit of fun.....

When I first watched that scene...I remember saying out quite loudly that I better see this actually happening in 2012!!!!!!!!!!!

What a rude and unnecessary comment! we are all just having a bit of fun with this. It comes to something when you get criticised in such a way just for having a laugh!

When all the bidding is on its the "host city" thats important....but in the actually year its always referred to bilaterally as the host city and the host nation.

And it's ALL Great Britain.

Frankly - its a GREAT idea - AND gets the organisers out of having to decide which SPORTSPERSON carries it LMAO. What if LEWIS HAMILTON is THE big British sporting success of the year??? They gonna make him run the last 200 yards in his fireproof suit??? He'd pass out for real!!!

And if you REALLY want something done about it...

DON'T bother telling the BBC.....

FIND THE PETITIONS PAGE ON THE No.10 DOWNING ST. WEBSITE!!!

As wicked as i think it would be lol the 1 small flaw may be that DT isnt still gna be the Dr by then? Well i doubt anyway? I cant see him stayin beyond 2010 tbh but we can only hope
