I think you guys have got re-imagined and revamped mixed up. A re-imagining would be a reboot that doesn't necessarily follow the same path as the original. Think about
Smallville, the US version of
The Office or Tim Burton's
Planet of the Apes.
There's no good reason to do that to
Doctor Who because the concept of regeneration and the constant flow of new companions makes such an idea redundant.
