Pah. I pretty much discredited the article when i saw:

Quote:
“
Spoiler
The shows will be the 37-year-old star’s last, then the Doc will regenerate into another actor.
”

Quote:
“Moffat is working on a Doctor Who film—and would love to get legendary director Steven Spielberg involved.”

Seem a bit certain don't they.

The whole deal sounds like nonsense to me. Why blow the budget going to america? And as for being big in the US, well the last time I looked it was on the small sci fi channel and was beng beaten in that channels ratings by Stargate and WWE.

And I think RTD and Moffat are aware that its not actually that big in America, even Torchwood is more popular....however I probably feel its lack of popularity is more down to what Moffat had said at the Comic Con confrence, where he said that the time its shown on the Sci-fi Channel is the wrong time....because it doesn't reach its Target audiance- the Children and their families....or they may just think its rubbish hence why its on during an obsecure time....

the states (me from there) are really good at putting great shows on at the wrong time or moving them around just after people actully start watching it and so on...its been the death of any a good show over there. sci-fi is not a channel they have everywhere and they don't do freevie - you have to have cable or satalite to get it basically.

from those I still talk to over there, they love it and watch it on BBC America as well as on Sci-Fi.

You know it's always the News of the World, the Sun or the Star who take something and twist it into something completely unplausible. Moffet said he would LIKE to do a movie as long as it didn't get in the way. There are numerous reports DT is staying on AND Doctor Who is a british show, not American and I think doing two episodes in America out of four with an American assistant (bet they're pushing for American Doctor too) would be a tad silly seeing as it belongs here. An episode in America, fine. An american assistant, fine. But both together is plunging into the realms of idiotic.
I lol @ you!

It was in the News Of The Frigging World. Did that not give you a clue?

Must be a slow news day, the Daily Mirror had a piece quoting Moffat saying how hard it will be to replace David Tennant when casting a new actor for the 5th series in 2010.

DW in America? Wouldn't think they'd waste too much time on that after last time ...

Watched the Doctor Who moive again over the bank holiday weekend and it just ruins Doctor Who when it is americanized.

They had their chance and they mucked it up - keep it in the UK or try another location. Australia would be nice

Yeah! Why would the Doctor bother going to America or any other country? The vastness of the GB has more excitement than a 900 year-old Time Lord, with a space/time ship, can handle.

Funny how the Americans are so often criticized and called arrogant, egocentric and self aggrandizing for making their films and TV shows which focus on all things American, and the suggestion that the Doctor would have an adventure outside of GB whilst on Earth is outrages.

Cant see it somehow... lets face it they have tried to remake so many british shows in a american format (Life on mars) and failed and they have already tried a US movie of this (that stank) so why bother?

all i can say is i hope this isn't true...

wow... i am totally split on this

on one side, i would love love LOVE to see David Tennant here, but after reading the beginning of that article (saying that the two specials will be his last), i just wanted to cry

however, after reading some peoples' posts (which i half hope are true) i'm beginning to doubt that he'll really quit but that also means he's not going to be filming in america so i won't ever see him!

to confess, i hope not many people in america like doctor who so if they ever come over here i'd be one of the few people who'd come to ask for pictures and autographs and i'd get to spend more time with the doctor who set people (including David Tennant )
But i know that's mean hoping that Doctor Who isn't liked by too many people in america

i wish with my whole heart and soul that that article is not true. even if it means i'll never see David cuz i don't want him to leave Doctor Who

PS- however if they do decide to film some specials in america (preferably-is that how you spell it?- near southern california) , but David does not leave, then i would be very happy

I always wondered who the people were who believed what gets printed in the News Of The World.

Now I know.

Why is everyone assuming that because the show may be filming in America, those episodes will be Americanised?

The French equivelent didn't happen when City of Death was filmed in France, the same with Arc of Infinity in The Netherlands, Planet of Fire in Lanzerote, and The Two Doctors in Spain

But then again, the Doctor didn't just pick up a French/Dutch/Spanish assistant played by a local actor.

And why would that be off putting?

Just because the Doctor will be assisted by an American it doesn't mean the programme will automatically become Americanised.

It hardly seems like a legitimate critisism

Sorry I just don't like the idea of the Doctor in the US -and the suggestion such experimental risky episodes could be 10's last -the whole thing would be a disrespect to the character and the viewers and their emotional investment in watching him ..

That said I do think David is staying and that part of the story at least is total rubbish .I'm actually not closed to the idea of trying a US episode -it just should be as a mid series episode in case theres a total marmite reaction because it would be very experimental ..if people don't like it they would just move on the following week then.

but the thought high risk marmite would be 10's last-no,no and no again from me! and I can't believe anyone concerned have even thought that ..this article is rubbish I think .
