Yes me too, I think the better partnership dance wise was with Sammy but her marriage to Corky seems to be a good one and they had great success too

Shirley and Corky are divorced, I forget how long. Three or four years ago I think.

Corky's current girlfriend will be a new pro on Strictly -- Kristina Rihanoff. I read that Shirley has a live-in boyfriend in LA. Corky cheated on Shirley with somebody, who was named in a post by a supposed "insider" on TWoP (it had been rumoured to be Karina Smirnoff, a pro on DwtS, whom he coached, but this poster said that was false.)

ETA: Found it (from "mygirls3" on TWoP):

"To clear up another matter. Karina never had an affair with Corky. It was one of his students called Adrianne, from northern NJ. That's what ended the marriage. Mark held it against his father for quite a long time, but, what "goes around comes around", since Shirley cheated on her first husband, Sammy, with Corky, and that ended that marriage. So Shirlly only got what she deserved in the end. Or should I say what she done, got done to her.

"Corky did every thing he could to promote the kids getting on the show including presenting the producers with DVD's of the kids [his son Mark Ballas and former wards Julianne and Derek Hough] perfoming together since childhood. Since all the producers are Brits they were already well aware of Shirley who is from London, and this also played a part in them getting on the show."

NOTE: This poster is an insider and her scoops have proved true, if you want to do a search on her name at TWoP to read her other tidbits of gossip.

Thanks for the gossip on Shirley obviously years since I have seen her with her being based in USA and hadn't realised the marriage had ended.

I was around when Shirley and Sammy ended and was sad at the time for Sammy. Just one correction Shirley is most definitely NOT from London but a good Liverpool girl

Very disappointing line-up.

I don't know any of them except Susan Lucci only because I just saw her on shopping channel.

Interesting that there are 2 multiple Olympic Gold medalists in that line up, one male (MG with 2 golds, plus a silver, plus a bronze); and one female (MMT with 2 golds, one gold acquired a couple of weeks ago).

(SCD can only manage a guy who carried the flag - never mind.)

There were Olympic Gold medalists in series 4 and series 6 of DWTS - Apolo Anton Ohno and Kristi Yamaguchi - and they both won their respective series.

I wonder if that means anything. Or indeed if it means anything for Mark Foster's prospects in SCD.

I feel that the celebs taking part in DWTS are more celebrated "celebs" than those in SCD. The DWTS line-up seems, for me, to have more sparkle. I've seen Brooke Burke many times too on E!, and in other shows too (phew). Could be hard choosing a favourite.

Last time we were able to watch DWTS 4 days after its screening in the US. That would mean it would be showing here on 26th September. The TV schedules ought to be finalised at least a couple of weeks in advance, so we ought to find out, this week, whether UKTV Gold will be showing the series.

I've heard it will be shown on UKTV's new channel "Watch" whenever that starts up - I believe quite soon.

Re Mark Foster, he might not have won Gold at the Olympics, but he has won 6 Golds, 5 Silvers and 4 Bronze medals at the World Championships, also 2 Golds and 5 Bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games and in his time has held the World Record for both 50m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly. So a very good representative to carry the flag for us at the Olympics IMHO.

I did not like watching DWTS & SCD at the same time so to speak last year, it was just too much of an overload - what with ITT as well
So I'm going to watch the first show of DWTS when it is aired only; just to get a feel for the celebrities seeing as I've never heard of most of them tbh .
My intention is to record them all & not watch until Jan, when there usually is nothing decent on TV & the weather is rubbish. Ohhh it will be lovely to have all that sparkle & glitz saved up when everything is oh so drab & depressing in those winter months, following the holidays .
Do you think I'll manage not to take a peek?

He's obviously going to be very popular with the ladies.

When Michaal Phelps appeared on Breakfast he was wearing shorts and flip-flops, which looked a bit out of place. He presumably just wears a pair of trunks most of the time, and was presumably feeling very overdressed even in shorts. Wearing clothes probably makes him feel like a fish out of water, so to speak.

I don't think Mark will be shy.

(Also forgot to mention Colin Jackson and Denise Lewis - both Olympic medalists - and both arguably the best dancers in their respective series, but neither won. I wonder if that reflects a cultural difference between the US and UK audiences - in that the US audience tends to reward results, but the UK audience is more influenced by other factors. In the last series of DWTS, I don't think Kristi would have won had she been in the UK. We'd have given the result to Jason, who had made the journey, even if he wasn't as good.)

I'm gonna do the opposite as you (due to necessity not choice though )

I'm in America, so I'll watch youtubes of Strictly if I can and THEN get the dvds and enjoy every minute in January (at least I'm hoping I can - I was able to get them last year.) I'm weird though - I like it better when I know what's gonna happen. I always read the last chapter of mystery novels so I can relax and enjoy the rest of the book. That bit of lunacy comes in real handy in this situation.

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to DwtS. My favorite male pro is back -- Alec Mazo! And looking mighty fine! I hope he makes it longer than a week this time.

If you check Greytop's Everything SCD thread on the SCD forum, you'll find links to YouTubes of the performances there once it starts. The wonderful Maltipom is going to record everything and upload it to YouTube and I'm going to put the links on the forum every day (for ITT as well as SCD).

No, you can't get ABC on Sky. There used to be a channel called ABC1 that was on Sky but not for at least a year or so now.

Going back to Shirley for a moment, is she still dating and coaching Riccardo Cocchi?? He's such a wonderful dancer and I love his partnership with Yulia.

It says here:
http://www.brandrepublic.com/News/83...libi-channels/
that UKTV Watch was originally scheduled to launch on October 7th.

That seems to suggest that the 2 existing Gold channels (Gold and Gold+1), where DWTS was shown last time, are being put to separate uses.

The old Gold (Sky 109) will become comedy, and the old Gold+1 (Sky 110), will become "Watch" "home to BBC series Torchwood, Mistresses and Larkrise to Candleford, as well as the new Richard and Judy 8pm show".

Doesn't actually mention DWTS. I suppose we can pray.
