Hi. Despite googling til I'm blue in the face, I can't find any reviews of this site (other than those on the site iteself), or indeed the item I'm interested in that they sell.

Can anyone recommend / not recommend this company, and does anyone have any comments at all on this item: Vason 11.3" Portable Freeview TV + DVD Player?

All help appreciated.

Thanks

Only never to buy anything with an in-built DVD player.

It's more of a portable DVD player than a TV I'd say.

Normally, I'd agree .... if it was a bedroom TV or something but I'd say this is slightly different.

Never heard of the website or the company making the DVD player.

But .... I can offer you an alternative.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xoro-HSD7510.../dp/B000J3ZLE8

(Also available from play.com but it works out about £15 more expensive there)

Slightly smaller screen (but not a lot), plays pretty much anything and Xoro (although you've probably never heard of them) make excellent budget kit. German company. I've had one of their DVD players (one of the first DivX compliant ones on the market) for years now and never had a single problem with it. They get a lot of good reviews, but are not widelt stocked in the UK.

I know there are a couple of ropey looking reviews on Amazon but the three more recent (and more detailed!) ones are all good and a couple of the ropey ones relate to freeview reception which isn't the fault of the unit.

Thanks for the link Sancheeez. Your link is pretty spot on as to what me and the wife are after. To be honest though the DVD will never be used. All we really want is a tiny tv with freeview that we can store in a cupboard, and bring out on the odd occasion in the spare room.

Can I just ask though, I am reading it right that the Xoro can be connected to an external roof-top aerial?

Thanks

Yup.

It'll hook up to a standard ariel. From what I can make out on the pictures on this review:

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/05...d_7510_lcd_tv/

... that looks like a standard ariel connection on the top I think and they mention it in the review as well as tryout out the reception with the mini ariel.

I've got a mini ariel for the TV card for my laptop and I can't pick up squat in my house with it. My freeview is fine with the roof ariel though. I guess it's just a bit hit and miss with mini ariels?
