Rugby, Tennis, Golf, Boat Race.....don't think there's much doubt he's the new Barry......talking of whom, I wonder if we'll see him at Wimbledon this year?

I'm not sure - obviously neither is ideal, but given the choice, I don't really have a preference either way. At least when there's a full day's play, a full 2 hours of highlights (and no analysis) can be useful. But when rain and/or bad light curtails it, the 2 hours can really drag. But then you could argue there wouldn't be much to analyse anyway.

I was thinking the very same about Barry earlier today. What a commentator he is.

I asked earlier but didnt get a reply so will just try on the off chance again

Does anybody know who hosted the Greyhound racing on Saturday night on Sky please ? Gary Newbon was doing the boxing

I think its about bloody time they sorted this out. It's quite embarrassing really that we still have some sports covered in SD (when HD is available) and some even reduced to 4:3 coverage just because of lack of studios. Either show the coverage without a studio or get it sorted proper. I know people keep saying the studios "are being built" but seriously.....how long does it take?

Can't say i've ever seen an HD or 16:9 SD programme reduced to 4:3 pic ?

Has happened for cricket reasonably often. This year some Indian, West Indian and New Zealand cricket has all been shown in 4:3 even though all cricket sky show other than that in Bangladesh in now filmed in HD.

Yeah as stated above, it's happened to Cricket quite often and this year as well. Particularly the series from New Zealand that ran alongside the Ashes. The coverage was HD one day, SD another and also reduced to 4:3 on other days.

It will be his 26th Wimbledon if he does.

I didn't see Saturday's Greyhound Racing, but I remember once in the past I was surprised to see it presented by Gary Wiltshire, the guy who does the betting alongside John Parrott on BBC horse racing.

Could have been him?

EEEEK. They use him as a betting guru with Dave Smith on the greyhounds but he is no presenter. My money would have being on Darrell Williams

I briefly flicked over a bit at the end of an ad break, and the bloke doing it sounded quite eccentric if that narrows it down. I don't watch the greyhounds so can't give you a name sorry.

That does indeed narrow it down!! I know it sounds strange but I did see Wiltshire present it once before!

Darrell Williams presented, with Jonathon Hobbs as usual as co presenter, no other changes apart from that. I wasn't that keen on his presentation although I have seen him presenting greyhound racing before on Channel 854 a few years ago. He speaks rather quickly and whereas he is good at the interview part of the programme which he usually does, he didn't seem comfortable in the main presenters role for the Derby semi final. Hoping that Gary Newbon will not have boxing duty on Saturday night and will be back presenting for the Derby final.

Off topic somewhat, but I found myself not concentrating on Darrell Williams' actual presentation of the programme, but that he seems to have one ear lower than the other!!

No problem at all, glad to help. Yes, I enjoy the coverage of greyhound racing on Sky, in fact it was watching a meeting on Sky that encouraged me to actually go and watch greyhound racing at Hall Green.

Wonder if anyone remembers when greyhound racing was first shown on Sky, that Jeff Stelling used to present the programme.

The commentators (and the bbc) are so far up Murray's behind i'm surprised they are able to view the match to commentate on it.

Homegrown bias is to be expected, but when you start having a go at his opponent for the slightest thing it really is outrageous.

Looking forward to the State of Origin match 2 on Wednesday. The 9 Network are very good. Rabbs Warren is just a superb commentator. His turn of voice is terrific. Not a bad support as well two from Stirlo and the Emperor

What many have said about Eurosport's coverage of the World Snooker, I would extend to Roland Garros.

I thought they were - and have been for a long time - exceptional.

Ray Warren announced last week he has prostate cancer. He is still fit enough to broadcast and hopefully it will be successfully treated.

Sad news, I wish him all the best. It wasn't that long ago that he had terrible problems with his eyes and somehow managed to hide it from the public throughout the season even though he was relying on the other comms pointing out names on the team sheet to him cause he couldn't see the players properly.
