Ron deserves a higher billing than that after his epic match last year, his very first BBC Sport commentary, no less, the never-ending Mahut v Isner match. I'll think of that match whenever I see/hear him for the rest of his career.

Didn't that end up being the only match he did at last year's tournament?
Sorry but both comments are incorrect. Ron had done plenty of BBC Sports commentary before "that match". He had done boxing, athletics and basketball for the Beeb.

And it wasn't his only match of Wimbledon last year as it wasn't his first game. He covered a game on an outside court of Day 1 last year too.

Oh, okay - was it his first tennis or first Wimbledon commentary then? It was definitely his first "something".

Was his first Wimbledon but not his first match of the tournament. They just tried to glam it up

And Howard Clark

I do like Rob Lee
Me too. Not just as a commentator/on location presenter, but he has been excellent in the studio covering the PGA Tour.

They have a great team of regulars, Simon Holmes, Denis Pugh especially worth a mention.

David Mercer and Barry Davies on the other hand have been on form as usual.
Two legends, have always loved listening to them, but I do like Bradnam's whimsy also.

Do you reckon they'll give him the rematch on Court 3 tomorrow afternoon?

Can't believe they've been drawn together again, especially with all the first round pairings that would've possible! Yeah - they might do, if they're feeling sadistic! I think I'll try and watch that.

From the sounds of Greg Rusedski's tweet it'll be Ron and Paul Hand commentating on the Isner/Mahut game.

Day 2 and I didn't get Isner v Mahut!Yes i will miss Big Ron,but Paul Hand has the honor. I am doing Federer match today which will be quick

Here's something that I imagine will interest a few people on here.

On the Wimbledon live text page on the BBC Sport website they've said that they are doing a Q and A session with Barry Davies later this week, although it doesn't say exactly when.

There is still time for you to submit a question to broadcasting legend Barry Davies for the Q&A we are doing with the great man this week. Send your questions for Barry via Twitter hashtag #bbcbarry or email us on tennis@bbc.co.uk, and we will pick out the best.

Neither BBC2 nor ESPN2 have switched yet to Centre Court. BBC2 have Barry Davies and Virginia Wade commentating on Laura Robson v Ms Kerber on Court 16 whilst ESPN2 switched to Court 2 for the end of the match between the doubles pairing of Vesnina and Zvonareva (commentated from the Wimbledon studio by Mary Joe Fernandes and Pam Shriver.

Do ESPN2 use any of the BBC commentary or commentators at any time Ian ?
