Wow, if there's a man who doesn't look remotely like you'd expect him to from the sound of his voice, it's Chris "Peter Shilton" Bradnam.

Wimbledon Womens Quarter Finals

Lisiki V Bartolli - Chris Bradnam, Lindsey Davenport and John McEnroe
Sharapova V Cibulkova - David Mercer and Virgina Wade
Kvitova V Pironkova ( swoon ) - Barry Davies and Sam Smith
Azarenka V Paszek - Nick Mullins and Tracy Austin

My own thoughts as to who might do the semis ? Well I reckon Simon Reed and Mark Petchy with Andy Cotter for the final.

As for the men tomorrow, i would guess Andrew Castle will do Murray plus a semi and the final so 3 from Reed, Davies, Bradnam, Cotter, Petchy and Mercer maybe

Did Mac have to leave the Fed match early? Also Boris has not appeared on Murray match yet.

Yeah he did. It was only him and castle for the first set. Then when i came back for the 5th he'd been replaced by becker.

Yep, McEnroe left at about 2.55 and Becker came in at that point

Becker joined the Murray match in the second set, to give him a bit of a break

... and it was good to see Pam Shriver in the studio afterwards for the post match analysiys!

Not sure if it's been mentioned in here before but Andrew Cotter will commentate on Premiership Rugby Union for ESPN during the World Cup.

Thanks for that. Obviously the fight is also in 3D so i'd guess Adam Smith and Glenn McCrory for that.

That's right. Getting Cotter is a good move by EPSN- it's not like he'll be do anything else!

They haven't provided separate 3D commentary on the boxing before. That's not to say they definitely won't tomorrow though.

Wimbledon Mens Semi Finals

Djokovic V Tsonga - Mark Petchey with Greg Rusedski and John McEnroe
Murray V Nadal - Andrew Castle with John Lloyd and Boris Becker

Also there was seperate 3D commentary but dont know who did it. Although for the 1st semi the co comm was Tim Henman

For me this was a classic example of how Andrew Castle has built up his own part. Petchey was a great lead this afternoon as he let Mac and Rusedski do the majority of the analysing. He did what a lead should do and anchored the thing and stuck to the match facts. Castle on the other hand gave his opinion on everything and must have spoken more than John Lloyd and Boris put together.

Is this the first time 3D has been used for tennis coverage? I don't follow the sport closely but it's the first time I've heard of it being used here.

How many sports are covered in 3D these days - I know its used on football, rugby union, darts, boxing and now tennis, is it utilised for coverage of any other sports?

Eurosport also covered the French Open tennis in 3D.

Cricket has had 3D coverage at both International and domestic level.

I'm pretty sure Sky showed the latter end of the US Open tennis in 3D last September. It was certainly filmed in 3D as they did a feature about it

Also, on the list of sports covered in 3D , you can add golf (last year's Ryder Cup and a bit of this year's Masters on Sky 3D) and rugby league (Super League regularly, and Australian TV has done some games Down Under) to it

On the small part of the semi-final I saw on BBC HD/3D this morning SImon Reed and Pat Cash were commentating

Also like the French Open the camera position was at much more of a ground level for the 3D coverage compared to the normal HD/SD angle. I'm no expert on 3D coverage, tennis is the only thing I've seen, so is this difference in camera angle the same for other sports like football and cricket?

Thanks for the details on 3D guys - how did I manage to forget about Sky's much-publicised 3D coverage of last year's Ryder Cup and this year's Masters!

Just flicking back to BBC HD, I've noticed the camera angle is from the other end of the court to the HD/SD coverage which probably explains some of the difference

I'm amazed anyone can talk more than Boris. Though he did seem quieter than usual yesterday, I must admit. Maybe someone's had a word with him about not talking over the rallies.

As well as the score graphic in the top-left, there's a translucent "BBC" DOG in the top-right, where the "BBC HD" DOG would normally be during live sport.

Ladies Final on BBC1 and BBC1 HD

Mark Petchey with John McEnroe and Tracy Austin

From what it looks like above seems the 3D commentary is Barry Davies with either Louise Pleming or Liz Smylie
