As you would expect the BBC's rugby team out in force today:

John Inverdale, Keith Wood and Jonathan Davies in Cardiff for Wales v Ireland

Dan Walker and Raphael Ibanez in Rome for Italy v France with commentary from Nick Mullins and Rob Henderson

Gabby Logan and Andy Nicol at Twickers for England v Scotland with Jill Douglas and Lawrence Dallaglio sideline and commentary from Andrew Cotter and Brian Moore.

Interested to see in this weeks TV guides that Gabby Logan is down to present the BBC's coverage of the World Cycling Championships instead of Jill Douglas. I'm presuming that she'll be doing Magners League coverage for Setanta instead.

Delahunt presenting rugby? Is that a first. I suppose he was free as there was no Bundesliga on. What was he like? I know he gets a bit of stick over on the football commentators thread but I actually quite like him.

Daire O'Brien presenting with Killian Keane & Ciaran Fitzgerald over on Setanta lreland.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Jock Brown?

I think Delahunt's decent too, didn't see him last night though

I didn't watch all of it (Aberavon V Newport for me in the SWALEC QFs) but he was good, although there was quite a bit of 'padding' going on.

Who was hosting the cycling on BBC2 tonight instead of Gabby Logan? Not a face I recognise at all, but unlike Gabby he actually knew what he was talking about. Dropping Jill Douglas was a huge mistake.

Was it Simon Brotherton? Sounded slightly like him although I'm not 100 per cent sure, I only saw a small clip of the coverage tonight as I was at the place kicking masterclass that was the EDF Energy Cup semi-finals

Yes it was, and presenting the World Cycling from Warsaw today... John Inverdale, hot-footing it from Coventry. Has something happened?

On other matters, really enjoyed the F1 coverage this morning, plus those excellent shiny new titles, and terrific to hear Barry Davies on the ice-skating...

Who needs football anyway?

World Track Cycling Championships
John Inverdale presenting from Pruschow (it's a suburb of Warsaw), with commentary from Hugh Porter and Rebecca Romero

Not had more than a passing glance at that coverage, but interesting to see Robin Cousins both in the (London) studio and commentating - so it's obvious his commentary was done from London. What about Barry Davies - you always assume the commentators are actually at the event, except on TalkSport of course!

Could have all been done from London, you know what the BBC is like, trying to cut costs and with this on the red button why flyt them to the event when you can send feed to London and commentate on that.

I wonder if he will get the gig again when it comes back to the BBC next year ? Much better than screaming Garry Herbert.
