Bruce Ctrichley now has a Twitter account and he comes across very differently to the rather staid old Colonel that is his schtick on Sky.
He's really quite funny.

Friday 5th August - National Rugby League; Channel Nine (Australia), Premier Sports and Watch&Bet

Nine's Wide World of Sports: Friday Night Football

Wests Tigers v St George Illawarra Dragons

Phil Gould presenting from pitchside at the Sydney Football Stadium alongside Brad Fittler

Sideline reporter: Brad Fittler

Canterbury Bulldogs v North Queensland Cowboys

Peter Sterling presenting from pitchside at the ANZ Stadium alongside Johnathan Thurston

Nine showed the Tigers v Dragons game live in New South Wales and the Bulldogs v Cowboys game live in Queensland, with a full delayed screening of the other fixture immediately following the live match in the respective regions. Both games will be shown as-live overnight on most of Nine's other affiliates across the rest of Australia.

In the UK, Premier Sports showed the Tigers v Dragons game live. I guess they'll be showing delayed coverage of Bulldogs v Cowboys at some point too. Both games were live on Watch&Bet via BigPond.

Rather annoyingly Sky haven't got any commentary on the Masters Tennis behind the red button which imo leads it to be rather unwatchable. They really should have some, be it their own, world feed or host broadcasters. Its rather disappointing.

Yeah, I've been thinking that all year, especially as a lot of the time there is only one extra game being shown.

On another topic, there are a few stories going about saying ITV 4 are going to cover cycling's Tour of Spain, with live coverage each day. I've not seen anything from ITV confirming it, but it'll be great news if true

Too right it would, especially as Eurosport treat it pretty much as any other cycling they do, bar the Tour and World Track Championships. But they'll have to get a jog on, it starts in 10 days.

Just to add to shelsey's list of cricket commentators...

Sri Lanka v Australia-T20 Series (British Eurosport)
Commentators (TEN Sports): Charu Sharma, Roshan Abeysinghe, Russel Arnold, Tony Greig and Tom Moody

I've caught highlights of the Zimbabwe v India test match that was shown over here on Zee Cafe, and *I think* the commentators were: Pommie Mbangwa, Alastair Campbell, Kepler Wessels, Athar Ali Khan and Dean du Plessis.

Now I've never heard of this du Plessis chap, so I googled him, and found this, amongst others. Believe it or not, he is actually a BLIND commentator, which is pretty amazing really. There's a couple of articles on the net about him.

No idea where the commentary for that match came from. The graphics were the same as the West Indies games (but in red) which would suggest some IMG involvement, but apparently Octagon have been host broadcasters in Zim since last year, so I've absolutely no idea. It was shown on TEN Sports in Asia, so perhaps they were charged with coming up with some commentators?

Live each afternoon, with 35 minutes of highlights in the evening.

...If you look at the TV guide on itv.com you'll even see it listed.

Neil Manthorp is there as well. Dean du Plessis is fascinating - I had read about him before but even with his talent I doubt he would ever get into a British commentary box...

I like Wardy, and i think he is a fantastic presenter on county cricket etc. But to have him there to do 30 second interviews at the end of play. (Which last night didn't even make it too air) When you have 8 other guys there who could do the job really. Just seems so pointless.

The Master Series comes with a world feed commentary, so there's no excuse really.

I did think though, does the world feed commentary only come from the main stadium court?

I think it has worked well on a few occasions, particularly earlier in the season although he seems to have done even less in the last couple of matches. It may be a case of making him more familiar with the less hardcore cricket viewers so that he can eventually replace Gower, who, given his personality, I can't imagine will be the type to carry on deep into his 60s. (although he is only 54 now)

Re: Test match evening highlights on Sky Sports.

Is there any particular reason why Charlie Colvile and the team don't do a studio highlights show on every night of the test match
Seemed a bit odd tonight.

Hmm I don't country cricket really. Only watch the good test / ODIs really. Still just don't find him to be that great..

To be honest though, as mentioned before, I aint the biggest Gower fan, slavers on a bit. BTW has Gower ever been part of international feed commentary teams for CWC or 20/20 WCs? As Obviously recently featured the likes of Hussain, Atherton etc. Gower seems to never be thought of highly outside of the UK broadcasting wise.
