Ulster V Ospreys

BBC 2 Wales - Gareth Charles and Unknown (Welsh Language commentary from Cenydd Davis and Emyr Lewis). Setanta's Tulsen Tollett even made an appearance when the BBC didn't go to a 'cut away' shot of the players coming onto the pitch in the fist half.

( Some DS Members may also recognise a texter tonight via the Fanscene commentary with Rick O'Shea of a Chris from Wallsall (DS Name "Wallsall_Chris") )

Scarlets V Glasgow Warriors

S4C has Gareth Roberts as host with Gwyn Jones and Emyr Davies as analysts. Commentary from Lyn Davies and Brynmor Williams. English language commentary from Bob Symonds and (due to Grand national bet) a £1,100 better off David Bishop.

BBC2 Coverage of the Rugby League Challenge Cup today.

2 games.

First up is Catalans Deagons V Bradford Bulls - Ray French and Jonathan Davies. That means Dave Woods will be doing the HUGE game at 4.30 between Leeds and St Helens. Possibly with Brian Noble as co comm. Maybe I am reading to much into it but I wonder if that means that Woods has replaced French as top dog this season ? He has been getting more and more big games.

I hope that's the case. Woods is easily the better commentator

I take it Clare Balding's presenting?

It's possible that, as RF commentates on St Helens for BBC Radio Merseyside, it was thought that DW should cover the St Helens v Leeds game. Mind you, DW used to cover Leeds for BBC Radio Leeds so . . .

Exactly. Possibly the BBC realising that French is getting on a bit now and warming up his replacement.

Claie Balding is hosting with Justin Morgan and Paul Sculthorpe.

Don't think it will be Noble co-commentating as Wigan are playing Barrow atm.

Edit: It will be interesting to see if Woods is the new lead comm seeing as the BBC will have live coverage of one England international over the next three years

It sounds like John Kear as co-comm at Headingley. Dave Woods is definitely commentating

US Masters 2009

Peter Alliss & Sam Torrance first on, Ken Brown and Wayne Grady in the studio with Gary Lineker. I don't know if anyone else will be involved

I miss Mark James on the BBC, does he work for anyone else?

On the 'Pundits preview' that was on the BBC Red Button earlier, Peter was sporting one of those shades Roy Orbison would be proud of!

They were a fine pair, one that would make Michael Holding jealous.

Good start to the coverage so far. Masters bingo in full swing, took only about 20 minutes for the first "Larry Mize country" of the four days!

South Africa v Australia ODI Series

Charles Colvile is presenting on Sky Sports with Ian Harvey as pundit. Interestingly, sky seem to have gone back to SABC's pictures, graphics and commentary feed which they've used in previous seasons rather than Supersport's feed which they used for SA v Bangladesh and for the tests and T20s against Australia.

Reporters were Andrew Cotter and Shane O'Donoghue

Is it me, or did one of the commentators on Amen Corner sound like Al Michaels? Does CBS/ESPN provide that commentary?

CBS provides the announcers for all four days of coverage, the only difference is that Mike Tirico presents and reports on days 1 and 2 for ESPN.

According to CBS, it's Ian Eagle and Matt Gogel who are doing the main comm on Amen Corner with Billy Kratzert on 15 and 16.

Ian Eagle does at times sound like Al Michaels, but I don't think Michaels' contract with NBC would allow him to do it. I didn't get to see much of the red button coverage yesterday should hopefully get to see and learn more today.

Thanks for that

Closer to home, Bill Arthur, Barrie McDermott and Terry O'Connor are doing the Hull FC v Hull KR Super League derby on Sky. Rod Studd is touchline reporter. Eddie Hemmings introduced the coverage from Odsal, where I presume he'll commentate on Bradford v Leeds tonight

Just to add to my above post, Stevo and Phil Clarke were in the studio at Odsal with Hemmings at HT

If that's the case (and by process of elimination) it would've been Mark Robson and Dick Best* for the London Irish V Bougoin.

*He normally does one of the Challenge Cup games, so may need confirmation.
