I've been suprised by the lack of Harrison and Barnes during the first weekend. Not sure if they've been paired together all weekend as Harrison commentated with Will Greenwood yesterday.
He was a studio 'guest' alongside Dewi Morris and Paul Wallace up until the Gloucester game.

This will be my first weekend with Setanta, I am looking forward to the Kelly Pavlik v Bernard Hopkins fight. Do they use the U.S commentary for this or do they have their own guys there?

Last week for the Klitschko V Samuel fight they used Eurosport's Dave Farrar ( off tube ) so it could be him tonight.......or Steve Holdsworth who is much better. Setanta did use the excellent John Rawling but he has other commitments with ITV now. They are to trial David Croft but he will be on F1 duty for 5 live this weekend.

Hi Darren

I see ITV has a fair few darts tournaments coming up, I take it JR will be used on these. Also in the dim and distant past he did work on football for Five Live, I wonder whether they'll use him as one of their FA Cup commentators. No doubt CT and PD will do the ITV live games but I am guessing they'll have a Match of the Day type show on 3rd round Saturday etc

They plugged the Grand Slam and there were 2 others mentioned. This was on Sunday after The Championship

The new European championship is at the end of the month, I think I read on one of the other threads that Peter Drury will be involved in commentating on it

There will be a MOTD style show from the first round Saturday - however JR won't be involved in that as there is boxing on the same night.

Correct.
The third darts tournament this year is the Pro-Celeb challenge. But there will be more darts in January too.

Are ITV intrested in buying the rights of the PDC of which SKY hold? When do those rights come up for renewel and how much do they cost?

Having noticed that he is on the jolly up to the Stanford Series, surely the terminally bland Ian Ward hasn't now pushed the excellent Charles Colvile down to third place in the pecking order of Sky cricket presenters?

ariusuk- you have let the cat out of the bag with news about jan- the pdc have not confirmed it was itv. itv will be showing the euro champs from ger, celebrity darts (1 night), grand slam of darts. Great news for darts that the jan event is on itv, most thought it would be on nuts

Sky still have the crown jewels (matchplay and world champ) plus prem lge, las vegas, uk open, world grand prix. Maybe itv could try for highlights of the world champs?

Would darts highlights really be a ratings winner?

I haven't said what the tournament is or who is sanctioning it.

It may be entirely coincidental that the PDC has a tournament in January too.

I agree, I know he's not everyone favourite, but I'm a big fan of Colvile and have been since the early days of him and Bumble broadcasting from the car-park cabin that they had for a studio.

The problem is he seems to have been give the No.2 role which leaves him doing all the England summer highlight shows, winter internationals and some county games. Ward seems to be the main county presenter and ironically gets more on screen time at live games.
