Yet another new pundit today - how many is it that ITV have used so far? I would suggest that Alec Stewart & John Emburey have been the best used to date, also Ronnie Irani has been better than may have been expected based on his Talk Sport presentation
I would agree with this, I've enjoyed what I've seen of Ronnie's work on ITV4's IPL coverage. Although his vocabulary is limited (he likes to use the word 'brilliant' as much as he can), he has a nice warm style and has built up a fun rapport with Mandira.

On the talkSPORT point, I actually don't dislike Ron as much as most listeners prominent in the DS radio section do - although it is fair to say that he's well out of his depth on their Sports Breakfast show.

But I have to say I thought he was very good as a co-host of their Sunday night Cricket Show a few summers back and that he was OK when used as a commentator on their Twenty20 coverage in past years.

It's just painfully clear that he's not cut out for working on a four hour morning show alongside another ex-sportsman every day.

Speaking of talkSPORT, be thankful Darren Gough declined ITV's offer of punditry shifts to continue with his Drivetime show on there. Now he is truly horrible as a broadcaster.

Also not a great follower of rugby union but can anyone list the main Six NAtions commentators and who else they work for? I guess some may well move to ESPN to help cover the Guiness Prem next year?

This year the commentators were Eddie Butler, Nick Mullins and Andrew Cotter, I think all three only work for the BBC. The only co-commentator I know who has worked elsewhere is Phillip Matthews who worked for TV3 (Irish channel) during the last World Cup but they have no other rugby

Austin Healey will be on ESPN as a pundit, there was an article on this very site

Do Butler, Mullin and Cotter do radio work or only 6 games a year?

Not sure about Eddie Butler but Nick Mullins and Andrew Cotter are fairly regular reporters/commentators for 5 Live/Sports Extra domestic and World Cup Rugby Union coverage as well as covering other sports.

Eddie Butler is rugby correspondent with the Observer - I'm sure he also contributes quite a bit to BBC Wales, who gave him his first broadcasting experience with a slot on the old "Rugby Special Wales"

Not so much these days.

Eddie's career has taken a funny direction - he's the number one rugby union commentator across BBC network TV but does precious little on BBC Wales, who screen regular rugby union unlike the rest of the network.

Eddie used to front BBC Wales' live Magners League matches (under the Scrum V Live banner), but he and Graham Thomas (who then presented the Scrum V Sunday magazine show) were replaced by Gareth Lewis in the summer of 2006 after a souring in relations between BBC Wales and the WRU over Mike Ruddock's departure as national coach - click this link for more information.

These days, he contributes Gabriel Clarke-style reports to the Scrum V magazine programme and does the odd punditry stint on the Sunday show as well, but otherwise that's about it.

Gareth Charles does the vast majority of the BBC Wales commentaries and that was the way it was when Eddie was a regular on Scrum V.

I think Eddie, Nick Mullins and Andrew Cotter could all potentially be involved in ESPN's Guinness Premiership coverage should they be given the green light to work for them alongside their BBC commitments.

Most of Eddie's work for BBC Wales, the Guardian and the Observer could be fit around working on live games on Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays.

As for Nick and Andrew, while they are fairly regular rugby union broadcasters (and occasional broadcasters on other sports) for Five Live, they are by no means used every weekend.

Five Live also use Ian Robertson, Alistair Eykyn and Ed Marriage as rugby union reporters so it is not as if they are essential staff on their mostly non-commentary coverage of the sport. On a typical Premiership weekend, it could be possible for Nick/Andrew to commentate on a Saturday game for ESPN then report on one for Five Live on Sunday, or vice versa.

Interesting to see it has been on both BS1 and 2 today at the same time. Games from either side of the screen, so extra commentators called in.

Today they have only used two pairs, each doing 3 sessions each.

David Hendon and Joe Johnson whilst the new voices are Darren Morgan and ?? ( not sure who it is )

IPL

Presenters: Matt Smith (Days 34, 35, 37 and 38), Simon Hughes (Day 36), Mark Pougatch (Day 39)

With Mandira Bedi still stuck in India, Matt Smith was on his own on the days Mandira was due to be with him and Simon Hughes and Mark Pougatch stood in on the days Mandira was due to be on her own.

Pundits:
Day 34: Ian Harvey and Ronnie Irani
Day 35: Ian Harvey and Simon Hughes
Day 36: Gladstone Small and Mark Butcher
Day 37: Mark Butcher and Graeme Hick
Day 38: Vikram Solanki and Simon Hughes
Day 39: Alec Stewart and Simon Hughes

It will be interesting to see who is chosen for the knockout games as pundits. I'd imagine Hughes will do both semis, possibly with Ronnie Irani for one and Graeme Hick for the other.

I think so far Graeme Hick has only been used at weekends. Would also be interesting to see if the commentary "teams" are kept for the remaining fixtures or are "mixed up"

I would imagine most of the commentators will finish now leaving the remaining games to a team of the Indian 'big three' (Shastri, Gavaskar, Sivaramakrisnan) and two or three others
